The server that we had been using ("Boston") seemed to have been struggling with Alice, and so we've moved the server back to the old location in Germany for the time being. The CPU is not as good as the proposed one that we wanted to get, but it's still a notable improvement over the one that we were using. Hopefully the server should perform better, and if we can get the new processor, then we will switch to the new system.
To connect to Alice, the addresses that you should be using are:- alice.sk89q.com for a direct route to Germany
- ny.alice.sk89q.com for a New York mirror that provides a latency improvement for some Americans, notably those on the west coast
However, because those addresses were pointing to the Boston server until today, it may take up to a day for your computer to notice the new changes. Even if the changes haven't appeared for you, you will still be able to connect because we've added a proxy on the Boston server, but you may notice extra latency as a result.
You can
temporarily use these addresses if you think that you're being proxied through Boston:
- puffin.sk89q.com for the direct route
- eduardo.sk89q.com for the New York mirror
We will remind you in a few days to change your addresses back.
