    To store items, I would see ender chests, so people can get their stuff at the beginning AND the ending of the fight, like at the main entrance of the arena, but people should also be able to bring their own stuff, but if they loose it, that's their problem!

    Well, custom enchanting, the actual enchanting of the item, requires, as far as I know, requires Single Player Commands. But, once the item is enchanted and placed in a chest with the ubiquitous sand block and sign affixed, you can make that an MCEdit schematic and place it in all (probably) maps. Not sure how Bukkit or the plugins on the server will react to that. And yes, I know that the server is not Bukkit. It's an example.

    The server IS bukkit. lol. We run worldedit, worldguard, craftbook, and dozens of custom plugins.
    Anyways, as far as custom enchanting goes, you guys can put whatever enchantments you want on the gear to be placed in the chests, but keep in mind that unless we get a plugin for giving people special gear only during arena fights, I will be doing the enchantments myself and have a massive storage room hidden somewhere in the arena with towers of chests holding unused copies of the fighting gear, and bottles of enchantment and rewards for the winners (if I actually do reward systems)

    Also, all of the arenas will be hand built legitimately once I get the permissions I need to create the toggle system. If I can't get the toggle system, then I will build a different arena on each floor of the ring, and the number of different arenas I can build will be limited by space. I'm hoping to get toggles. Another possibility if I don't get them is that I get one of the mods or SK to set up the toggle space and signs for each arena after I build them.

    Finally, I will need very little redstone, thanks to the power of craftbook. I can use any solid block, a sign, and a lever to create integrated circuits, or ICs, that will perform just about any function I need.
    The hard part is sending messages to individual players and keeping track of the fighters. If we don't get a plugin to help me automate the system, I may have to designate judges/referees to manage the fights. I also need to decide if I want the arena selection to be random, or if I want players to be able to choose on their own (or if I want to make both systems available). Anyways, I can't wait to see what you guys can do! work hard on your arenas, and I hope everyone will get to see their arenas in action!

    So here's my first map;

    Arena Name: [Suggestions?]
    Creator: Killerx0107
    Description:
    This is a PvP/PvE Battle map. Basically there are 3 teams, a red one, a blue one and the middle tower defending team. Both bottom teams need to try to get to the middle tower and conquer it by killing the players of the tower team. This way you get like a Team v Team v Team Battle. The fun part is that the two bottom teams are Swordsman and the tower team are Archers. The bottom teams fight each other (or merge together, who knows) and try to get to the top of the tower. But you probabely want to implement a system so every 1/4th of the map has a hidden lever to activate pistons clearing a way to the top. This way the bottom teams actually get a chance to meet each other at least once.

    TL;DR most of it.

    I'm just going to leave this here. I'm pretty sure (90% sure) custom enchantments placed on custom items (signs, other items) will not show up on items.And i'm not sure but I almost certain you can't have enchantment values over the vanilla on items in SMP (the only exception i've seen is a golden hoe with efficiency V ) without (hack-ish?) plugins.

    Just saying.
