Eloraam was too protective over her mod. Things like ProjectRed have come along to replace that and ProjectRed is implementing awesome things similar to LogisticsPipes!
Those awesome things were already in RedPower2. The only significant thing RedPower2 lacked was an autocrafter. RedPower2 was BuildCraft Pipes + Thermal Expansion ItemDucts + Logistics Pipes + Applied Energistics all in one mod.
AFAIK RP2 had no similarity to LogisticsPipes, from my many uses of it, but I agree that it was an awesome mod. That said, Eloraam WAS always too protective over her mod and so nobody could use it!
AE, LogiPipes, and RP2 all share the same three principles: Connected nodes in the pipe network can advertise items that they will satisfy. Connected nodes in the pipe network can broadcast a request for items to all other nodes. Responses to requests can be returned to the original requester in the pipe system. The crafting pipe in LogiPipe serves both #1 and #2. It serves as a request converter. This is the main and only thing that was really missing from RP2. (You could consider an item request terminal being lacking too, but that's not fundamental to the system.)
