If that title wasn't obscure enough, basically.. If I remember correctly, a tweak was made a bunch of versions ago that makes individual items of the same type on the ground collect into one big stack. It all was fine until now that we have Pneumaticraft, which relies on throwing multiple seeds into different block spaces close together to plant them. When you try to do this, they all just collect into one area and don't plant. This basically kills any chance of automating planting them. I think Minecraft also contributes to this now, but like I said, if I remember right we did have a tweak for this which seems no longer necessary. It also seems to glitch out when you're using tools that mine large areas (hammers, KAMI tools, etc) by desyncing and collecting the items into places and showing them in other places. This could be completely unrelated though. Thoughts?
This was added to vanilla a while back, so I'm not sure a) why pneumaticcraft relies on a feature no longer there and b) why there's glitchiness.
Without this tweak (which comes with the server that we use), leaking pipes and machines destroy the server. But I can see what can be done.
I could see this being a problem back when people actually made complicated automation systems using Buildcraft and RP2, but these days not much spills out of machines anymore unless you do something very wrong from what I've seen. Maybe there is a way to exclude PC seeds from the tweak? The multi-mining picks and tools would have to just be a continuing side-effect.
Since this 'tweak' is vanilla minecraft, it sounds more like Pneumaticraft is simply not well coded for vanilla minecraft (my opinion of its code in general can be inferred). A quick hack could be to change the stack size for the given seeds to 1... of course, that would affect those seeds in every inventory. A better answer would be to eliminate the poorly written mod. But I'm on an anti-proliferation platform, so you may consider me biased.
