Torches don't cost a lot, but they can take up considerable amounts of space and use up a lot of coal over time. I would like to see if we can have a Flashlight mod.

There's times where I would like light, but not have to place and break a torch to do what I want to do

Short Video of the Flashlight mod linked above:

I'm not sure if 1000's (or more) of torches could cause lag after awhile, but if it could help cut down some CPU strain, why not?

Post your thoughts, opinions and whatnot please!

    Thank You,
    DSoS

doubt it will get added due to lag lighting updates are very taxing (pun intended)

Dynamic lighting causes lag to both the server and client. Also, torches are VERY easy to mass produce for pretty much free. You can not only make them with coal, but also charcoal and sticky resin.

I'm not sure if beeswax works too, but maybe. I do know that you can use that for candles, though.
