I have been stuck in the Nether for what has felt like months, though somebody said it had only been about a month. I died in the Nether once, without a home set, due to what may have been lag-- I had been in lava for half a second and the fire wouldn't go out-- and now the world just un-loads around me whenever I respawn, whether I fall in invisible lava or through the world.
