I understand that no one is willing to solve the conflict between the server chat plugin and the Open Peripherals mod at the moment. But since I'm a constant user of these commands, along with a few other users, this creates chat spam. I know that hsun324 had created a thread arguing about this, BUT, this thread is to suggest a solution, not mention the already known issue. One solution is: Use a channel chat, as suggested by multiple moderators. Yes this does stop it from going into the main chat and the computer still receives the command, but the user cannot easily read the chat outside of the channel. Why would you want to isolate yourself in a channel with only 1 person? My solution is: Create a plugin for the server that omits any chat that starts with $$. Instead of editing the current chat plugin (which I probably won't be allowed to do) either I, someone else, or a group in our SKCraft community can create this plugin. Considering I've made a working plugin for my personal CraftBukkit server, I can make this myself, although with my experience with Java, chances are it won't be nearly as good as if a professional programmer created it. So, what do you think? Try to answer the poll too. (Text formatting is for people who are like "tl;dr")
TBH, we've known how to fix this for quite some time, but chose not to bother for a few simple reasons. The world will not end if something is not added to remove $$ from chat. If I had to guess: Unless sk make the plugin himself, I highly doubt we would see him adding a plugin made by someone else for legitimacy reasons I would expect. TL;DR Not happening anytime soon I would expect.
I do find it *slightly* annoying when someone's using the commands every few minutes. But it's annoying as hell when some kid learns to use it for the first time and starts naming their programs childish names so they can get attention by spamming commands. Also I see a mild privacy concern if someone's using commands that involve sensitive information like base coords and such. Although I'm not too familiar with CC, so I may be wrong about the privacy concern being an issue.
I have said this to sk and it should be a relatively easy task but obviously 1.6 is the primary coding operation right now. Namely the new launcher!
