Hey, How about the idea of creating a NPC at spawn which trades for Galacticcraft Schematics. Not too long ago, I was dungeon hunting on the Mars and found 5 Cargo Rocket Schematics in a row which annoyed me quite a bit as some members might have experienced in the chat... Anyway, since it takes quite some time to find a dungeon and completely loot it (also taking into account that some dungeon temp to glitch out), the alternative to just trade the Schematic for the other one would be really amazing and quite helful, as in-game progress (at least with AE2) is still dependant on the Schematics.
But then we come back to the age-old question of challenge vs. tedium, and I'd argue that the status quo in that regard favors tedium. The guy went through FIVE dungeons, and got the same schematic, so clearly it's not his dogged determination that's the problem, it's that the loot tables are borked. Having an NPC that accepts one schematic for another of the same tier would still push progression, but allow people who've put the work into getting schematics not be assed out for their effort. Since schematics aren't craftable, and are destroyed upon 'learning' them, it's still in keeping with progression, but allows for a compensating mechanism for crap loot tables, IF IT'S A TRADE BETWEEN THE SAME TIER. So you couldn't use a schematic to skip a tier, which WOULD break progression. There's ways to make things more fair without breaking the system, it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing proposition.
Like Labtech has stated in a roundabout way it will not effect progression as the cargo rocket is the same tier just the chance of which schematic you find in the dungeon. Although personally I did not have any issue finding the one for the actual rocket after searching 3 dungeons. I do not agree with the idea although it would NOT effect progression nor would it break the tech tree it is just reducing time and tedium involved. However the cargo rocket is almost useless making it possible to trade several useless patterns for useful ones and selling them which would most definitely mess with progression and the tech tree
Wizjany spent an hour dying because he bypassed progression and didn't know any better. Clearly progression is mute at this point.
Not yet commenting on schematic trades, but wiz is basing with us so he has full access to our stuff, though he neglected to use any of it to make survival equipment for some reason.
