although we could change the recipe to something insane like... I dunno... maybe eight dataorbs around a diamond? I tink that should be a goo dprice, because seriously, dataorbs are not that cheap to make in amounts like THAT.
-- MOD DENIED -- The Soul Shards mod will not be added to the Alice server. This is because ample mob grinders can already be achieved using Redpower frames; Redpower frames allow the movement of mob spawners from one location to another in a more balanced way compared to the mob spawning as a result of the Soul Shards mod. Pathaleon Alice Updating & Testing Team.
That is not the reason, at least for me. It is because it's really easy to get the mob spawners with a Soul Shards when you're playing with different people -- just go to someone who already has a grinder, sit there for some time, and you have essentially 'copied' that grinder. Then after you build your grinder, someone else can come to you and copy yours.
The makers of soul shards did think of that. Mob spawns that come from a shard spawner do not count towards kills on a new shard, only natural spawns count. (wait, what? did I just make a point in favor of soul shards? >.<)
Mobs spawned from a Soul Cage are tagged differently from natural mobs, and cannot be used to create new ones. So the functionality you fear, and list as the reason for why this mod is rejected, is not actually possible.
I think Sk is talking in terms of player made or natural mob sparseness, not that it makes much difference for the majority of the server since the mob spawn rates are so low durring peak hours
No it definitely sounds like he was specifically talking about players using other player's Tier 5 spawners to make their own spawners. Only, Soul Shards doesn't allow that, so that cannot actually happen.
Does this only work for vanilla mobs? If not, then Thaumcraft would add a huge exploit that allows infinite aspects.
