Is it possible to run a gtx 760 on 1 screen for games, and an old radeon HD 6850 on the other for web-browsing at the same time?
Like he said, should work fine although you may find you may have trouble with the drives playing nicely together. Just curious why you don't run both monitors from the one gpu?
I do currently, I was just wondering because 1 GPU on 2 screens performs worse than 1 GPU per screen I thought. And then my old GPU doesn't have to be lonely in a box.
What happens if you play a game in windowed mode, and half the game is on one monitor/gpu and the other half is on a different monitor/gpu?
Like LordRedstone said, that generally won't work unless you're using SLI/Crossfire (for which you need two of the same card, IIRC).
What happens though? Windows will try to put the window on both sides. Assuming no Crossfire/SLI mabye it won't draw the game?
I've not actually tried it, but I would say anything from only one window being drawn to a CTD to a BSOD.
I tried that a few years ago with nVidia cards. The card in the second PCIe slot copied the signal from the first card, but did not actually do anything. With 2 monitors at one card you can at least use expanded desktop. I'm still doing this right now, it's not a big performance hit (at least on Linux).
Impossible for me since my monitors have different sizes and resolutions. Anyway, which games can you play across two monitors? The bezels would be exactly in the middle, splitting the image exactly where you don't want it to. Would work better with an odd number of monitors, methinks.
