I actually did that in my 1.4.7 base with 2 AESUs, and I never really had any problems until my AE system started to use a couple thousand EU/t...But if you know what you're doing it can be really easy. But moving steam around and using power converters is definitely a much nicer and cleaner power set-up. I actually went this route again since I decided to setup 26 full HP boilers a week ago; So that's where most of my power to power my processing machines, comes from so I don't have to worry about power issues mostly
