The modpack that will run for 1.7 will probably consist of quite a few mods and alot of them heavy mods. But the code for everything (including forge and other baseline stuff) might be polished and the perfomance might increase for people, if done correctly ofc. If there will be machines and jumping things and everything, then we need to make sure to spread it out and don't use too much of it. A little isn't that big of a deal (I hope). If some kind of sci-fi theme is chosen, perhaps we could have that all the first-time joiners will have to go through a wake-up from cryosleep and do some basic exercises to ensure they are ok. Would be amazing to pull off, and an amazing 1-time experience
The most important issue for me is navigability. We could have the prettiest, coolest, awesomest spawn around, but if I keep getting lost, I'll hate it with a burning passion.
A reason for my desire to have a hillside, open air spawn. Harder to get lost when every street offers you a view of the rest of the city.
I'd love to see something like this http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/1ml7nh/the_spawn_area_for_my_server_always_a_work_in/
I know a castle is a really cliche idea, but Anor Londo from dark souls is what I'd go for. Its a huge castle city that is situated in a large mountain basin. Here's a picture It's got some really cool things in it like a huge spiral staircase structure that moves up and down as an elevator to different floors, and a huge painting in a cathedral that you can get sucked into and go to the painted world of Aramis. So yea, thats mah idea Edit: Also, we could build a couple other cool dark souls locations and have bonfires, like in the game, and use them to teleport between them.
Navigating castles is difficult. Multi-level makes maps difficult. You can't see where everything is from any vantage point. It makes a pretty scene, and a great base, but not a practical spawn in my opinion.
what kind of system do you have and perhaps a more distributed spawn would work cus its not all in one place it should lagg less
I'd make something unique. Uniqueness and simplicity is the key in my opinion. Why not try a city under mountains? Maybe a dwarven theme? Or a city above the clouds. The more unique the better the first impression players will get of the server and more players are likely to stay.
Hi Sk89q, it's been a while since i've been on. Maybe a year Anyway, I'm interested in designing/redesigning the university zone, and if possible, i would like to accommodate the aesthetic style of alice's town. is it still an underground idea? overground? rustic? modern? would you like the university to have a signature look or a blend-in? I am also particularly inspired by the capabilities of Bibliocraft and would like to try implementing some into the design. -iamweirdie
hey what about an open air greek city with lots of quartz, lights, and mysterous shops/portals to random places
Informations: (delete this if not ok) Current builds: We've done lots, we have a town and a gigantic cave (reminds of wieliczka), and some temples and stuff. Also pls no more greek builds. And there are currently no mods, it's all vanilla.
