In Alice 1.7, ore generation was tweaked. You cannot find every ore ever anymore when just mining in a straight line on level 12. You need to mine on different layers if you want to focus on particular ores.

Here is a list of where you can find the ores.

    Vanilla
    • Coal is evenly distributed on any layer between 0 and 128.
    • Iron is distributed mostly around layer 32, but can spawn up to 32 layers away from that, though more rarely. It can also rarely be found on the surface and in mountains.
    • Gold is distributed mostly around layer 16, but can spawn up to 16 layers away from that, though more rarely.
    • Diamond is evenly distributed on any layer between 0 and 16.
    • Emerald is evenly distributed on any layer between 4 and 32. It can only be found in the Extreme Hills, Mountain, Alps, Jade Cliffs and Highlands biomes, though.
    • Redstone is evenly distributed on any layer between 0 and 20.
    • Lapis Lazuli is distributed mostly around layer 16, but can spawn up to 16 layers away from that, though more rarely.
    • Nether Quartz can be found anywhere in the Nether.
    • Glowstone can be found in clusters on ceilings in the Nether, but also spawns in ore-like veins anywhere in the Nether.
    Thermal Expansion
    • Copper is distributed mostly around layer 56, but can spawn up to 16 layers away from that, though more rarely. It can also rarely be found on the surface and in mountains.

    • Silver is distributed mostly around layer 20, but can spawn up to 12 layers away from that, though more rarely. The veins sometimes contain some lead as well.
    • Lead is distributed mostly around layer 25, but can spawn up to 12 layers away from that, though more rarely. The veins sometimes contain some silver as well.
    • Ferrous/Nickel is evenly distributed on any layer between 5 and 20.
    Tinkers' Construct
