Over the past few days I've noticed that there are times when hostile mobs simply don't spawn. Today and last night, for example, I have not seen so much as a zombie while wandering around in dark caves and exploring at night. This is a costly problem for those of us who run mob farms. It also seems to apply to wolves and ocelots, but it may just be that those two are really rare. can we get someone to investigate this issue?
It's possible there is people with mob farms or you are playing at a time where there is people afking at the enderman farm. These are all contributing factors to the lack of mobs elsewhere in the server.
after further investigation, the mobs continue to not spawn even when there is no one at the ender farm, and no one hiding at their mob farms. There appears to be some other underlying issue.
In fresh zones where nobody lives, there is a very low spawn rate of mobs. The rate of mobs spawning increase with the more time you live in the zone not just pass by.
I live only about two thousand blocks out from spawn, in the middle of a desert. I have cow corp to my south/east, uber to my southwest, and some other guy to the north. some days nothing spawns, even in the darkest caves or over the course of several MC nights. other days, I can't walk between my house and my nether portal without being confronted. Oh, and in other news it appears to be localized to the overworld. the mining world is immune to this issue.
