You would think so but the system doesn't seem to cause any lag, even when checking across areas of up to 10,000 blocks.

Can you transfer redstone signals over the cells?

Lol, from what I hear block lookups are so cpu intensive. Might be better to hook into the player block break event, and see if they broke your block.

Like as a cable? No only cables can transfer data.

I mean, can you put a redstone input on one end, a redstone output on another end, and expect it to transfer the signal to whichever cell output you told it to go to?

You have to check to see if the network is still intack. How do you know if the network was broken? Likely check every block in the network, to make sure they are there. If not, you can't transfer the information. I'm saying it is hard on the server to check all the blocks in a massive network, that could span through many unloaded chunks. So instead, on any block break, see if it is a network block that was broken.

Got a lot of work done on the side monitors for the cells. You can now see recieved data.

Path and penag both asked exactly what I wanted to know. How does it know if it's connected to the network or not?

Also I prefer surface cables, would be nice to have telegraph poles and relay stations all over the place.

telegraph poles would be hated by sk, since they look ugly and un-mediaeval (server theme) so I don't think the wires should be visible. Does it work by nether? It seems like a great idea but it would be great if it were wireless though.

    does not compute

T: If I want to send someone a message I send them a PM or just write in chat. Minecraft can do links so I send an imgur link if I wanna send a pic. This stuff requires me to spend precious resources on something that vanilla Minecraft can do already. Does it have any actual benefits? The things you already listed don't convince me.

Eh. Our carts are rarely used to move items, they are a transport system. That didn't exist until the industrial revolution.

My point was that we don't have any specific style requirements. Only real rules concerning buildings are 1. don't build ugly, 2. keep the landscape intact.

All the cables will be layed underground, so there is no concern about the landscape.

And for benefits, it can bring the entire community together in many ways, such as planning out a large network, writing scripts for the cells, it also provides to the economy where cells can be bought and sold.

We have the railway system, which is messy anyway. If we get a second network, maintaining gets close to impossible, unless someone is going to spend hundreds of hours.

Wires will be lay deep underground, they are quick & easy to lay.

Also, short range wireless is also an option in the future.

Still, with the wires deep underground, it must be maintained.
