We may want to update to the newest GregTech version (for 1.4) but fusion coils have become massively cheaper in the newer versions. Therefore, Fluttermine has suggested a "refund recipe" consisting of: 4x highly advanced machine blocks 1x superconductor 1x energy flow circuit 2x tesla coils 1x iridium neutron reflector plate The idea is that, before the update, you'd craft your fusion coil block into an intermediary item. After the update, a recipe is made (and the previous one removed) so that you can convert your intermediary item into the items above. Opinions?
While I think it's great that you guys are considering "refunding" the resources. I would still say that it's a good idea to hold off updating, until we know there is no hope of getting a copy of version 2.90f. I'm trying my best to see if i can find/get a copy of 2.90f. But if it's no hope, i would maybe suggest refunding everything that flutter mentioned, but give the raw resources from the highly advanced machine blocks, since they're the most expensive.
2.90h is as stable as it is going to get for 1.4.7. Also I agree with neon on giving back the chrome/ti and advanced machine blocks or whatever you used, because you will need a lot more chrome than you will titanium, seeing as you need 36 high blocks instead of 96 and a few extra for the casings
Welp, i'm feeling really disheartened now. It turns out, the reason we wanted 2.90f (overclocking centrifuges), isn't even in that version..... So 2.90h it is
A refund sounds great. I better make some solars to tide me over when the old fusions stop working. The new fusion reactor is going to be a lot of fun to build and supply. Can't wait.
Actually I'm doing it for all my solars so it's more like 8/192 but I guess 64 would be enough or even 32
Apparently the newest GregTech also requires Mixed Metal Ingots to be made in a Rolling Machine now. This is after already drastically slowing down the process by forcing everything to be made via plate machines. I'm having a lot of trouble justifying fusion power (which I can't afford now and never will be able to after the update) at the cost of absolutely everything being massively slowed down with unnecessary and redundant processes from Gregtech. So, I propose that either we add reasonable recipes like 1 Wheat = a stack of advanced alloys to pay me back for days of waiting for plate machines to spend their 2 seconds (10 seconds with server TPS that it is) PER piece of anything I wanna make or just ditch GregTech so we can enjoy Minecraft again.
i agree with ky, everything in gregtech just seems tedious now. just extending the time it takes anyone to make anything. plus if GT gets ditched we would get a MASSIVE TPS boost.
...you people and your "let's ditch gregtech hurr hurr" attitude. think of all the people who have their bases built up with gregtech. without gregtech we wouldn't have AESUs & IDSUs Industrial Grinder the tp hub 2/3rds of the players we have now just because several people don't like/hate it, that's a horrible reason to get rid of it. if you want easy and boring freaking ic2, go play the direwolf 20 pack in ftb.
With the new versions of GregTech rolling machines (and every other machine) can be upgraded with overclockers and transformers. With the small code tweak I suggested here, the EU cost of upgrades would be negligible, machines would run fast, and the number of machines per player would be quite a bit smaller. While I understand your frustration, I think we should keep modifications to a minimum. That way the server can be updated without the need for lots of work every time mods are updated. GregoriusT is rapidly developing new machines and when we move to 1.5.x there will be lots of new toys.
it's not about hating it, it's about it just extending the time it takes to do everything, and he just seems to be doing that more and more. making redundant steps to make anything.
The material cost for items like wire, and advanced circuits are much cheaper, and if you're in a rush, the basic (more expensive) recipes are still available for most basic ic2 parts. Your suggestion that it only extends the time to do everything is incorrect. And on the issue of slow machines (not that it will be an issue when we can upgrade them), Just setup a basic automation system, so the machines run and there is a small stock of finished items whenever you need them.
I am sorry but you cant justify the needless addition of plates; Greg must get some kind of sick thrill from complaints or something.
I'm pretty sure that all of us (myself included), think that the plates are useless. But I already asked sk about disabling them a little after the update added the. IIRC, he didn't do it because he didn't think 'It's just unnecessary and tedious' was a good enough argument to remove them. But idk anymore, tbh I'd rather keep them in, just so I wouldn't have to redo all my AE encoded patterns, but that's just water underneath the bridge now.
