How does having a phone count as being monitored by their parents 24/7?, and how does that make them spoiled pricks?
A kid getting a phone from a parent and not paying for it because "everyone else has one daddy" is being spoiled, these types of children are also bullys to the kids that might not have one and that makes them pricks. The opposite is that the parents force it on the child so they can call them all the time because it makes them "safe". It is a small percentage of kids owning up and getting a job to pay for their own phones and bills in this day. Why is not having one sad? Does that imply that a person lives in poverty? Does it factor them as a social outcast?
Hmmm ok, so what if a person gets a phone from a parent but pays for it himself, what does that count as?. And seriously you would only hear that from like a 7 year-old brat or a really spoiled teen. The latter is understandable for some parents being over-protective but the kid can always choose not to accept those calls. It may be a small percentage who do but it doesn't mean that all other kids who have phones are spoiled brats or kids who need to be monitored by their parents all the time. I was just saying that jokingly (hard to tell in the form of text) but no, What I ment by sad is you would think that a teen would have some form of phone to keep in touch with friends or something of the sorts, I didn't mean it in that sort of way.
I'm not monitored by my parents 24/7 (If i wanted to be off the grid, i'd simply leave my phone home) nor am i a bully. Infact, at my school, it's the other way around, the kids with iPhones n laptops n shit (these ppl are usually labled as 'nerds') get bullied by the kids who don't have these things (reason why i never take my phone to school or tell anyone i play video games). And I just made 16 so I have a reason to be 'spoiled' (cared for by my parents). Sorry, I don't have some crappy prepaid phone that I pay for myself to seem badass and responsible but instead have a regular iPhone (given to me by yes, my parents) which is apparently a very bad thing to have on this forum.
This is so off topic it isn't funny. Perhaps a thread cleanup is in order? As for not having a phone myself, it can and does lead to a bit of social isolation when you are the only one in your grade without a phone (not for Financial reasons) and can make it hard for friends to organise things, but it's do-able without one. However there comes a time where in this day and age, a phone may be necessary for someone like myself (been caught out in situations where a phone would have been very useful), which is why I am getting a job, buying myself a phone and paying for it myself. And because of this, I will hopefully also be able to donate some money to SKCraft on occasion, because it will be my money to manage (reason why I never had a phone).
I don't live in 'Merica. And likely I will be buying the next iPhone when it comes out (outright, which you can do in Australia) and sticking it on prepaid. EDIT: And yes, I know it will be over $1000AUD (~$1060USD) outright. Better than wasting $80/month on some rip-off plan.
You do know that the new iphone will be like $700 if you get it prepaid right? That's moar than my laptop.
Cmon guys this is getting offtopic again, can't we get back to the subject, like choosing a suitable method to send sk moneyz.
Well I can't say much for other but I have work almost my entire life starting when I was 8 and I just turned 25 so I've had to work for everything I have twice over since I lost almost everything at one point as well but, I currently pay nothing for my cell phone and haven't for the past 2 years but that is from someone who helped **** up my life next to my own father. I'll bring that idea up with SK next time I get a chance to talk to him and maybe he can see about getting it set up for using Amazon.
