    It has more features and you can setup auto work things like tell it to turn engnes on when machines have work to do and much more.

    They also added more GUIs and all kinds of fixes and new features.

    Exactly.

    Thus the reason 3.X isn't smp yet, it takes time to port that big of an api to work well on smp.
