Don't die then. I don't think SK will put those 1hour bans anyway because most of the people on here are pussies (see the "should vincent be on hardcore difficulty thread").

haha. If Madness is going for the non-pussy approach, let's load 25 biomes, declare no rules and watch players form their own factions just to survive against each other.

No rules is not doable for this community i guess... not everyone on here is mature enough to get owned and stay cool against each other...

I say we make 2 initial teams (or 3, or 4, or however many as you wish) of about 10-20 players each and chuck them into the world. They are given 1-3 days to pick a zone far from spawn (which will be a safe, protected area) and each other (to prevent troll castles sitting side by side) to build and set up shop as their permanent fort. During this setup duration, there will be no hostilities. Each fort will have a heavily guarded room with a special, normally unobtainable block (circle stone brick, sponges, etc) that will be given to them as their "flag".

After these setup days are over, the server is opened to the public. There will be directions at spawn that give the coords to the forts owned by the different factions. Players will be given the opportunity to join any factions they want to join, with no gameplay restrictions holding them back. Essentially, when you say that you join a faction, you aren't "locked" into it, and the faction will simply have to take your word for it. Want to join Faction B, but then stab them in the back by digging an underground tunnel to lead soldiers of Faction A in? Dig away, turncoat.

Faction mechanics will be purely player driven. If a faction's fort has been blown to pieces and all the members feel disheartened and bitter, they could decide to disband and scatter to the remaining factions. Or they could decide that they've had enough of being chewed on, and try to invade and take over an opposing faction's castle (The "respawn at your bed's coords even if it's broken" plugin should really be disabled on this server). If members of the faction decide that they've gotten sick with whoever's in charge, they can choose to form a rebellion and try to oust their current leader.

The object of the game is to invade the enemy's fort and to take possession of their flag. The flag then has to be brought back to your faction's base and placed beside your own. Collect the flags of every faction (assuming there are more than two) while maintaining ownership of your own and the game is considered won and the server can be reset.

Outside of the 1-3 setup days, there are no rules. If you build somewhere, expect your building to be griefed eventually. If your "friends" turn on you, kill you and loot your stuff, hey, too bad. It's a rough world out there. If you want to survive, stick to your faction.

I think that the no rules, player driven approach that Aetheus suggested would work much better for an hour long death. A death like that would encourage people to not die, and to establish a society of sorts. On a more rule based server, shorter deaths might work better.
