Too bad SK can't be online for 24 hours every single day in the week, otherwise this would be a viable option.

Instead the workflow is to do (provisional) ban first to prevent any additional grief possibility, document what happened (bans require paperwork), ask the accused to tell his side of the story (this is why you get an ID), and after that a decision will be made.

I rather have a server that do a provisional ban on the first signs of grief, with a proper appeal process rather than a server that permabans only for very clear grief, and let other stuff slip.

me griefing was just an attempt to leave the nether. i ended up in a locked portal and had no choice. ive never done a thing wrong before and at most i just broke a few nether blocks and some obsidian. i meant no harm and i just wanted to get some glowstone for my house. its been over 30 hours i think at most thats a decent punishment for my accident so could someone please unban me? im not an insistent griefer and if i dont get stuck in someones locked portal again then it wont happen again.

But why didn't you put the blocks back? No one would have known you were there.

because the portal wouldnt work. the purple swirls would show up but it wouldnt teleport me. besides to see if it was just a glitch in the portal i built a separate portal not 20 blocks away giving them more than double what i had to break. i think this is a case of someone being overprotective of their stuff. i was on when they were discussing this griefing and instead of telling me what happened they outright banned me without asking my side of the story. i heard them talking about a griefing but by the sound of it seemed as though i blew up half the map and i didnt consider what i did to be a grief anyway.
I just want to get back on the server.

Well... have you PM'ed SK with the complete explanation? Have you apologized? Did you wait at least 48 hours after you send the PM for SK to respond?

If not, that's the reason why you're still banned.

To PM a person you can do one of the following things:
    • Click on their name and select "Start a Conversation" in the popup that appears.
    • Go to their profile, go to the "Information" tab, and select "Start a Conversation"
    • Open your inbox, and select "Start a New Conversation", and enter their name in the first field.
    • Go to your Preferences Page select "Start a New Conversation" from the sidebar, and enter their name in the first field.
or you can click here to PM sk89q

Be aware that I don't personally execute most bans, and so my opinion isn't weighed in until you contact me for an appeal. I suggest a policy and others interpret it, but something can go wrong, but contacting me fixes it up easily.

i agree, the mods seem to be hard line "no - **** you" i couldnt even get a TP off the roof of the nether due to a server glitch without bitching for 20 mins... "no free hand outs - just /kill yourself and lost your inventory"... im thinking i should look for other places to play... but i like the way SK runs things so much, its hard to want to...

PM sk89q immediately to get this resolved. Include all details so he can take the best course of action.

I never had a problem with the mods. Maybe because i solve most problems myself, even glitches. Mods play the game and want to have fun, too, you know. They are not your babysitters. This doesn't go only to you pagan, i meant all of you guys.

In an ideal system this would be perfect and depending on the grief, I do this. I investigate all the possibility's of what may have come to pass. However for more serious things I will just Ban them and they can make an appeal. Its a lot easier on me than waiting for a person to show up when I have no idea when they play. If I were to dismiss a possible griefer and not be around when he got on, things could get a lot worse. People are free to contact me about the reason for their ban as I am around pretty much 16 hours a day. I am here to help the community of players.

Well Cran, Im sure you would listen to offender's side of the story if he is online right? Im sure you wont Insta-Ban him on the first report right? Thing is..you are not the only mod around. Im sure a mod will be online when the accused gets on since the server has, to quote TexasGamer "Many mods to monitor the server during different Time Zones"

Correct. I would listen to what he has to say. What reasoning would a mod have not to, to quote Patrick Star " I'm Patrick, Patrick, Patrick".

This is true, but remember that we are all human and all have different standards when it comes to suspensions. That is why only sk89q does the appeals. It helps keep bias or double standards out of the equation.
