    Yeah, we have terrible internetz. Minecraft often reports the
    pIng of the current Minecraft server at well over 2400ms

    For comparison, an Australian hosting company located a few hundred kilometers (kilometer = 0.61 of a mile) away from me pings 196ms. Bad latency for me (and the rest of Australia) is caused by our main Teleco's poor copper wire infrastructure.
