As you know, The Outer Lands (thaumcarft) is a quite laggy place (I died because of lags, falling to the void, twice), however every thaumaturg needs "primordial pearl" which can be taken only from this dimension by killing a boss, which is not very hard to defeat (not much harder, then Wither). So, my suggestion: you will close (delete) The Outer Lands (which probably will save some memory) , but make primordial pearl craftable. I understand, so I will write, what you have to do, to get this pearl. Normally: 1)You have to discover almost everything in thaumonomicon to open "Eldritch", it takes a lot of time. 2)You need some time to discover "Opening the Eye" research, to be able to open the portal. To open the portal you also need: 4 Eldritch Eyes (for these you need 64 ender pearls (essentia), 4 eyes of Ender and 4 gold ingots) 3)Kill the boss. And it will also take some time to find it. And labyrinth could be quite dangerous. If it's craftable (I'll take the third variant of the recipe): 1)Same step. However, if you will find Eldritch Guardians, it's possible to get the eye from them. 2)Kill enough wither skeleton, to get 12 skulls, to get 4 nether stars. BUT! You still won't be able to use it, because you have to open "Eldritch" anyway, to get this reseach and be able to use it. So, it's absolutely useless for beginners. And now, how to use this pearl: Usually it's could be used infinitely many times, but there exists some recipes, which consume it.
The outerlands is pretty messed up and i died and lost all my stuff when spawning in there and falling in the void so i think this is a fine idea, only thing is to craft the portal you need 4 eldritch eyes so the crafting recipe should probably reflect that, my recipe idea would be: nether star, eldritch eye, nether star eldritch eye, void seed, eldritch eye nether star, eldritch eye, nether star
I died multiple times getting the pearls I need for my research. The bosses are meant to be strong and to pretty much annihilate you, I was full Kami armor when I approached them and I still got destroyed. They each have a catch to their defeat. You don't just go in and start mashing it with what you've got. I don't think the primordial pearl should have a recipe. Tips - Get a shock foci and upgrade it to the max - it's a lifesaver versus these pesky mindcrabs. Get a Signalum Crossbow and upgrade it. It really helps versus all the bosses, especially the Master Guardian one. However, if there is an issue with lag and spawning outside of it there might be a solution to it.
I with my friend defeated it wearing normal (no power) armor. And it was not't very hard (for me it was the same, as defeating Wither in open space, that is why I want to use Nether Stars in recipe). Moreover, when I was playing on another server my friend defeated bosses quite quickly even alone after getting Kami (he has a great skill in it). This issue is periodical. And I think the reason of it is it takes a lot of memory (chunks has to be loaded). That is why I had to call my friend, we did next thing: I teleported, spawned outside of labyrinth (basically. I spawned on the same height as I was in Overworld, so I just fell on the top), then I called my friend, who spawned already in the labyrinth, and then I telepoted to my friend using Phone. When I was playing on another server we didn't have such an issue because we had enough memory and only one mod - Thaumcarft with addon Thaumic Tinkerer. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Good idea, it seems even better
I will probably try to come up with some kind of a module for Plume that teleports you back to the normal height of the dungeon if you are higher/lower than you should be. A recipe will not be put in place most likely.
If you will do it, it will be great! And I'll be able to clean all nearest dungeons in no time But there is also a problem, that once I broke the server, when I entered the dungeon (I think I fell to the void because of it). But it was only once, I hope it won't repeat.
Ah i had no problems with the bosses, the bosses were ridiculously easy to be honest. I only died because I had been going to dungeons with my jetpack on and spawning outside of the dungeon and having a mod teleport me in. The one time i died was because i was wearing a void armour set without a jetpack and i fell into the void when spawning outside the dungeon. The only reason i believe the pearl should be craftable was because i always spawn outside of the dungeon and need a mod to get into it. If that problem is fixed it definitely does not need a crafting recipe. Also for clearing the dungeons i use a fossil cannon, it can kill the crabs in one shot and the guardians in two, definitely one of the best weapons if you can figure out how to obtain it
Sorry for a bit of Necro, but I just ran into this bug HARD on Ivan 1.7: I went through the required research and opened a portal, then walked in and fell into the void, unable to see anything after I teleported in. Flying is disabled due to the Thaumcraft anti-fly protection in the dimension, so it was instant-death if the starting room doesn't spawn. What I lost of note: Fully enchanted Terrasteel armor Angel Ring Aesir Ring (yes, all three rings) Thaumcraft ichorstrapped wand All my TiCon weapons, draconium sword. AE2 Wrench (was in bag) Various other items I'd never done the Outer Lands and was preparing for a good battle. Unfortunately the glitchiness of the dimension caused me to lose all of my gear in an instant. I would push for setting a crafting recipe for the pearl. Now I have to progress through AE2 wrench and Angel Ring... AGAIN.
