Hey all! As a member of the Dev Team, I'm looking at building the new Alice pack. Although we do have a new-ish 1.7 pack, it's a lot of the same. So, my question is, would you guys be interested in something different for the new Alice pack? Not just more of the same, but something new! Throw your suggestions at me in the comments! ~ LordRedstone
I'm less concerned about specific mods, more a different style of the entire pack. Like, rather than just a nodded survival, maybe some kind of adventure?
Resource management. You could make ores rarer so would have to craft wisely. Although that could be to tedious. Another thing I would like to see is a player town, I know everyone loves to build a bazillion blocks away with huge sprawling bases but if we kept everyone relatively close you could see the progress everyone makes and make it feel less like singleplayer+ irc.
I was thinking of forcing everyone to build within a relatively large (64*64 or 128*128 chunks) but confined area, and then having regular attacks on the town that you have to fend off. If you die during the attack, you lose all your items. However, things like this could cause a lot of people to get bored quickly, or people might just want a regular pack again. I'm open to anyone's suggestions!
Well we all been here several times .. most of ppls gets to hight end and get bored.. and the pack what is curently on alice is more less madness ... I remember those times when there been well organised towns and shared things and in several lastest pack it just turned to be .. go for your own and be greedy and protect everithing! We maybe might consider something what will put ppl back together so they will come to TS / Skype to talk with eacch other and just no matter what they will cooperate to get final thing done... Forcing ppl to do something is bad and always will be bad (in terms of minecraft). Where are all those comunity projects like huge factories, train lines, nether farms... it is just ppl waiting for 1.8.x to be fully moded or comunity ower here gone just too far? Maybe because im member since 2012 i see stuff little different but there is need to get all ppl interesting.. it should be something big, something impresive, something what will give life to this server. So my point of view .. it should be Medival or post apocaliptic scenario with some long terms goals........ Sorry for my long text... PS: We all waiting to see our loved Demenzia to get back !
I was hoping there would be a type of survival-oriented type of gameplay. Players must co-operate or at least trade with each other to prosper. Maybe a rpg style kinda thing?
I've compiled a list of mods we should have: I also think maybe we should rebrand Alice to make it seem more "fresh". How does the name "Vincent" sound?
We need something to motivate players to stay after reaching endgame maybe have events, competitions, build contests and such P.S. if we have a post-apocalyptic theme plz no deathclaws...
Quoted for truth. Personally, I miss the days in Vincent when we had beautiful spawn towns, and worked on markets together. I remember travelling thousands of blocks to take diamond and iron to market, etc. Though, these days I've played so much FTB magic- and adventure- related modpacks that vanilla doesn't do it for me. I'd love to see a modpack on skcraft that centered around better dungeons, more realms like the twilight forest and such, with bosses, beefy scary monsters that actually threaten you instead of just zombies, skeletons, and spiders. I think it'd be cool to pick one major magic mod (thaumcraft, botania, witchery, ars magica 2, etc), one major technology mod (fill the in the blank, you dirty alice-goers), and throw us into a world that demands planning, cooperation, and caution, and rewards thriving in your chosen areas with phat lewt and hot elf chicks. EDIT:: Basically Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magicka Obscura
We had a vincent instance where most people had their sprawling, bazillion blocks away base, and also had a house in town. Players were alotted a spot in town to be their house there. Sometimes, this just ended in boring rows of weird houses, but with some people (roflwaffle's and hollie's houses come to mind), the houses were gorgeous and fit in with the town, like being built into artificial hills the players made, etc. Anyway point is, I agree with Brodolon that it usually comes down to single player + irc. If there were some consistent way to ENCOURAGE player interaction, that would be a huge plus. Whether it was a market or what. Community-driven projects often works out. Like, you may have your bajillion mile away base, but one iteration of vincent we had rail stations every a bajillion blocks out in each direction in spawn, and people generally tried to make some road or waterway or underground passage leading from their base to that railway, so they had a link to spawn. Something something community something.
Well, here's my opinion to the topic: Since most people here want to play in a cooperative way, how about the idea of a hardcore modpack - progress would be slower, especially if you play solo, so this would force people to play together in a team more. Also, I find it to be a neat challenge for once to really WORK for your materials and not just: going ahead, making a quarry and you're good to go. In fact, me, Pablode and theunknownxy were working on such a modpack the past few months and had quite some fun with it already. It definitely would be something different!
