Here's an update on the current state of things: Alice: Currently broken and doesn't even start up (infinite loop in the code), so you can't get on. This will unfortunately be the case for at least another week. Unfortunately, the situation is pretty dire and I need a few hours to devote to figuring out the cause. However, it would be admittedly be easier if we did something else... Vincent: The griefing around spawn was fixed (a bunch of people were accepted the other day). Note that we need to decide what to do about MC 1.8, so please post on that thread. Sponge: Sponge is the Bukkit-like thing I'm spearheading. It's progressing with the help of a number of other developers, but I personally can't devote much time to it these few weeks (similar to the situation with Alice), so I can't give a precise update on it either. If you are a recently joined member, unfortunately this is not a great time to join (unless you like playing on Vincent, then you're set).
Im going to adress the elephant in the room and say: You should make a representative poll wether or not the people of alice are willing to accept a reset for it to work again.
...and slowly let it grind back into a slow buggy unfixable mess in a month. And reset again. And again. And again... Running a modded Minecraft server with a moderate amount of mods and players is simply not as feasible anymore.
If you have no raw staff time it isn't. Works pretty well if you pump out like an update a week and stay ahead of the recent bugs and fixes. I understand sk has no time for that tho.
Random Idea: Go back to a 1.2.5 or whatever easier to run modpack, and remake any mods that we are missing (I can make mods and stuff).
I'm quite happy to work on Alice if needs be, especially with Christmas break coming up and new PC parts in the mail (glorious LG IPS monitor)
No, "remake any mods that we are missing." Obviously we can't go crazy. Or just go back to an old modpack, it'll feel new to most people.
Reset, but then we'd end up in the same place... though with less people Smaller modpack Go back to MC 1.2.5 lelele
well... Supposedly with a reset we get an extra month out of it, do you reckon you can trial and error it on a separate machine to get the problems out of it? hopefully by then it should all be Tops and we should be able to get it back to normal?
as for me, ignore me... my laptops being a little brat... oh well. And btw Sk89 idont mind waiting for you to get it all right. so what? stuff happens (avoiding this cuss saying haha!)
We could use a ready-made modpack and disable stuff serverside? ATLauncher or something like that? (Or get the modpack and just move it over to SKCraftLauncher) Seems like there is too little time available to make, run and fix our own modpack. Getting a ready-made modpack and tweak it seems like an easier option imo.
@ chenzy i like this banner. if anything beats my photoshop skills and isn't in a "womens weekly" or "E!" i liek it.
