So if I have Chrome, Skype, TeamSpeak, VLC and Minecraft on what cpu would be more suitable and better? The Xeon or an i5 4440. I can get the Xeon for £123 and the i5 for £140 around about.
I'd say go for an i5 (or preferably an i7), since Xeon would be more so if you were doing graphics designing and stuff of that sort for your work. Many games just require a higher clock speed to work better rather than more cores. We may or may not be thinking too hard about this...but using only that amount of applications (with their processing power needs) simultaneously is fine for an i5/i7. Also, I don't think you need a memory stick that runs above the maximum speed of your motherboard, as your stick goes up to 1866Mhz while the motherboard only supports 1333-1600Mhz. You can save money by buying a memory stick with a lower speed, or you can get a more costly motherboard to support the 1866Mhz - that's a money to speed decision up to you.
tomorrow (ofc I'm in UK) i'll recalculate my stuff. Could you recommend me a good, cheap compact keyboard and mouse?
Lol, when it comes down to accessories of that sort, you probably don't want to ask me. If you're looking for very specific gaming (or even LED lit) keyboards, then that's out of my range of knowledge. My simple Logitech keyboard and mouse combo suffice for all I need (whether gaming or not). The DPI recognition of the mouse works well and it's certainly not anything that I need to think about after using it. It just works, without stuttering or causing problems. Here's my current set.
I Also need Advice on this stuff (didnt want to make another thread/necro another one) Rumors are That The GTX 960 is going to come out and also from what I've heard it will cost around 250 USD. Should I get one of those to future proof my system or stick with the one I've already Chosen and upgrade/sli it later.
Depending on your budget this may not class as cheap (but it is for a gaming mouse), but I'd recommend the Logitech G400s gaming mouse any day. I have two G400 mice and they work very nicely and are the most comfortable I have ever used. The G400 was phased out in favour of the G400s which is a slight modification.
What about the Cm Storm Devastator? Does anyone here use them? And what other compact cheap keyboards are there? I've looked around and the Zalman ZM-K400 is a good price but the key caps look dodgy.
I agree with Siioh. You really don't need anything special. Just get a nicely rated standard keyboard and mouse. I play all of my games with the default keyboard and mouse that came with my pc. This includes games such as battlefield 4, Counter-strike GO, Minecraft, etc. Without any issue. They only special thing I would say to look for is a mouse with left/right buttons on the side to bind to actions in games and left right "scroll wheel". Again, not a "gaming mouse", just a standard mouse.

As far as AMD vs. Intel: it won't make a huge difference what you pick. Either way, you have a perfectly fine computer. In my personal experience, AMD chips are usually cheaper, but the quality of their chips typically reflects that. They are usually more likely to break down, but AMD customer service is usually pretty good about that stuff. Either way, you'll be ok. As far as the i3/5/7 series versus the Xeon, they use the same architecture, and share a socket. The Xeon is better than the i series on benchmarks, and in most of my informal testing, but not usually by a lot. The Xeon has different features than the i7, but you're unlikely to use them anyways. Mostly, it comes down to preference and what you're doing with the chips.
Ok, I wanna say thank you for this explanation! Finally a non biased overview! Most people just sneer "intel you noobs" without explaining what justifies the cost. Thanks!
Also the xeon is usually more of a value deal than the core series (Its only about 20 more pounds but more powerful than the i5)
It may seem biased what I say about AMD but I have a fairly recent cpu from them 2013 model as I wanted to give them another chance. They should definately stay in HTPC's. They are shite for gaming when comparing to Intel. Top end AMD FX-8350 is octa core and is beaten by a quad core i5 infact its blown out of the water.
