    LOL

Anyway I think it's our (our meaning all the minecrafters in the world) fault. We pushed Notch to a point where he couldn't take it anymore(http://notch.net/2014/09/im-leaving-mojang/)

Eh, I can understand Notch. I wouldn't want to have anything to do with what Minecraft is now if I were him either. I can't stand that much publicity, am too much of a lone wolf for that. I'm the type who sits at home and plays WoW when everyone else is out clubbing, and Notch is like that as well. He doesn't like how well-known he is, and he doesn't want to work with a multi-billion dollar company like MS. He'd rather sit at his PC and develop more games.

As for the MS deal, I don't really like it but I'll try to stay positive about it and hope that it'll help Minecraft become better instead of worse. If Mojang is going to remain largely independent, being able to make their own choices, then everything is gonna be alright.

What I like less is that, in this age, all small companies with a great idea or IP are basically destined to be bought by one of the big players... same happened with Oculus and Facebook.

Also, I find it a bit strange that you're posting everywhere how much you don't care about MS acquiring Mojang, Toni...

I live in Redmond. It takes me 5 minutes walking to be on Microsoft's main campus. I may or may not be mostly unconcerned with Microsoft's acquisition of Minecraft.

The Minecraft subreddit is chock full of doom and gloom, but for all of Microsoft's issues, if they want to see a return on the 2.5bn they just spent, doing what everyone is afraid of them doing is not the way to do that.

I mean, let's be frank here. If Microsoft doesn't do right? What happens, do we stop playing Minecraft? No. We just don't update. There are already Minecraft versions in the wild that Microsoft can't do much about.

Also, remember, Minecraft is more than just the game. There are an enormous amount of ancillary products and toys that generate revenue. Remember, Star Wars is huge, but what makes money are the merchandise.

Exactly, the MS of 1997 is not the MS of 2014. They have heaps of open source projects, and they no longer dominate the market, which means they can't just do whatever and hope to get away with it - there is actual competition now that they have to put up with. Mojang has made plenty of mistakes and minecraft is fine, however I have this feeling that if microsoft makes one tiny mistake, everyone will cry "DAMN YOU MOJANG SEE MICROSOFT SUCKS".

    Yeah, no.

    Though I trust ValvE more

Also a lot of people just aren't familiar with how Microsoft is run. A lot of what made Microsoft terrible in the recent past comes from Balmer, who frankly was a horrible CEO. (I say this, speaking from what my sister has said as someone who has worked at Microsoft the last 5 years, and her commentary on Microsoft's internal culture and what I have observed.)

Satya is a LOT better, and though it'll take time for all the changes he is implementing to percolate down the employee chain to the lowest levels, things are looking up and it'll only get better.
