It is more than possible with adjusting spawn rates for certain mods with another mod... I might make some time for that.....

Tedious mods weren't liked on on the first version of 1.6... Fortunately it isn't GregTech :D...
    Still Tedious in my Opinion...

Also, I have a feeling that with the physics mechanic with things falling down without enough support in Enviromine, a lot of things in other mods will break. For example, if someone wants to build a huge Ender Quarry, they will not only need to make a huge fenced-out area, but also they need to support the fences. (Yes, tonius confirmed that auto-mining will be in 1.7. 'Nuff said.) Yes, of course you can make multiple quarries, but it's tedious. We don't want tedious.

Also, like Ruler said, thirst makes the game tedious too. The hunger expansion is not as bad, but having to carry a stack of water with you, placing leaves every which way, and taking fire with you whenever you go adventuring is tedious.

This isn't a challenge pack server, it's a tech mod server. If you want Enviromine, play Crash Landing.

Exactly why GT left in 1.6.4. Yes you want a chakkenge; you wanna fulfill that hunger, so play a challenge map while Alice updates.
Tedium, how you are such an ass.

Difficulty is not the same as tedium, though. GT departed from difficulty and embraced the land of tedium. Tedium = easy, but time consuming.

I don't see what's so sad about that.

Sandbox building games aren't designed for minmaxing. That's a fact.

Difficulty is what Thaumcraft does, for example. You actually need to think a bit to do research, at least if you're not using a research helper website... cough
The power approach of pre-exp IC2 was also a nice example of difficulty, it's not as braindead as Thermal Expansion where you just place conduits and you're done - you need to think about how to place your cables and convert correctly.

Tedium exists to hinder progress. This does not mean that all tedium is bad, because it's not so great if you steamroll through the tech trees too quickly. The problem is that you can usually automate all tedious things after a while, and for very tedious mods like GT this isn't so great because you can skip everything after a while. (Although setting up a nice automation can be very fun as well.)

Balance is important. Some difficulty is needed to keep things interesting and thoughtful, some tedium is also needed to drag the game out a bit until you get automation so that getting things automated feels good.

Also, the worst kind of tedium is when you have to do a rather simple, minor action manually, with no way to automate it. That gets boring after the second time.

    I have been summoned ;)

for some people they are. Im one of those people. My enjoyment in minecraft comes fro minmaxing and combining mod interactions to make things work. Thats why I play modded and not vanilla.

Unrelated : Is there any news on Alice 1.7? I haven't seen anything on the HP.

When you know that there are people here that will deliberately and obsessively look for exploits to abuse (to reach the so-called "endgame", because actually making cool stuff is too mainstream (oh wait no it isn't)), and they will proceed by tactlessly preaching to everyone how much the modpack sucks and how broken it is, it doesn't exactly make working on it more fun.

Combine that with being the only team member that actually does a significant amount of work, having to do other more important stuff and not being able to deal with unconstructive criticism, and any motivation that was left is quickly gone.

    Rather surpising, isn't it?
