Hey all, I thought I'd take the time here to discuss my plans for a new OpenBase in 1.7. Pretty much my first major project on Alice 1.7 will be to build a new OpenBase. Obviously I need to establish my own base first, but hopefully on the second or third day work will start on OpenBase. Things I hope to include at the start are: * An AE2 press copying station, where you can come in with 4 iron blocks and come away with the 4 presses required for AE2. I'm hoping that people on the OB team (more on that later) will spend some time trying to find the meteorites so we can find the presses early and allow people to copy them. * A decent power source, and some basic TE machines. FuzzyHarpyBug has said that he will start working on a public power source almost immediately on the 1.7 map, so hopefully this will be used at OB. * An upgraded blood magic altar, if we have Blood Magic. This will hopefully also have an automatic blood-filling mechanism, by having a separate altar nearby that has the LP extracted from it, where you can donate blood, and where animals can be spawned and killed for LP. * A couple of public farms, probably a potato farm and a wheat farm. These will be fully automatic & probably protected. They will also be underground to prevent ugliness & lag. The Team OpenBase will be open to contributions and ideas, but some parts will be protected and managed by the team. Are you guys going to stick around to manage it, because I get annoyed having to fix someone else's community projects. Also for your farms don't do that tower farm above ground it's ugly, if you want to add the look of having farms build a facade above ground and shove the actual guts under it.
Yes, I will be managing OpenBase. My plan is to have a Mario Pipe (or a stargate, depends on which mod we get) that links me into a private management room in OB, like we have on the current one. I didn't play much on the 1.6 because I had no project but I'll make sure to carry this one through. About the farms: since you requested it so, I'll add that to the builds list and I'll make sure to build it underground.
Since EP2 is not updated for 1.7, I'm hoping we will have a similar mod, which will either be Greg's SG or my Mario Pipe mod which I'm currently making.
Can I join OpenBase? I won't be able to contribute much in the beginning (because hurr hurr uber-factorization mode kicks in at that time) but I could help build it.

Is there any word on what power generation mods may be included yet? Also is there any way for chunk-loaders to be owned by multiple people so power generation will continue even when I am offline? I aim to make the 2.7mil RF/t I was producing on 1.6 look pathetic on 1.7. Hehe. Also, I really disliked how dependent everything was on tesseracts, is there a possibility of some faster water/steam transfer through pipes of some kind? I know I've seen setups with them, not sure from what mods though.
