For old times sake i'm gonna say it Ded *giggles* that out of the way, I would play for the experience that sk provides, A very small amount of people can run a server to quite the standard / quality sk always has been known to, Yes there has been downtime and lag but quite frankly, That is expected when you get a metric tone of 3rd party mods and try and cram them all into one, Things break and conflict very easily. Moving along 99% (citation needed might be more ) of the community didn't want me online so that among other reasons is why i don't play anymore, Anyways now i run my own server but meh that's off topic. point being as long as there is there is a server running then you can hardly call it dead, Sk and staff (most of them anyway*glares at Shadow* ) have been running Skcraft for 4 maybe 5 years now, something with that much of a history is usually doing something right and based off of the time i played i don't think Skcraft is going anywhere any time soon (i hope i didn't jinxed it on you guys sorry) well that's my 2 cents *disappears back into the shadows of the internet*
Well, I HIGHLY doubt it's the end of Minecraft for now...but there is a definitely a slow rate on how mods are getting updated. Anywho, if SKCraft does end up becoming a ded MC server, we can always all go play Robocraft or Starcraft using the same "SKCraft" name and no one will ever notice that we died out/gave up on Minecraft
Optifine worked flawlessly when it started off. But when 1.5 hit, it was utterly useless. what used to be 90fps in a major machine-heavy area in 1.2.5, became 10fps in an unpopulated area in 1.5. And the reason, The optimizations from 1.2.5 to 1.5 for chunk loading etc.
