Hello everyone! Alice hasn't gotten a lot of love recently, so I'll like to push out an update in the next week (or over this weekend). However, to do so, I'd like some feedback. What mods should be considered for addition, even if denied before? What mods should be updated? What mods should be removed? What blocks or items should be re-enabled that have been disabled? We'll also try to update the server software in the process, which is extremely old.
In addition - remove Mariculture...it's buggy and unused. I think that we also need something to make bees more...popular, rather than just standing there. If we could bring a mod back like "Thaumic Frames" or have bees be more efficient that would help. I'm glad we're finally looking forward to an update EDIT: Something that would keep players on more, is end-game content (like how 1.4.7 Gregtech was), but the chances of finding a mod that'll suffice for great end-game content will be hard...
I know this is unpopular, but I actually enjoyed Gregtech a lot! Anything that makes progression more complicated/difficult/expensive is great! If there is anything else to add to Thaumcraft, that would be awesome as well.
sounds great but im curious is it remotely possible to get up in minecraft version or is that not even a shot in the dark with how many mods we would loose?
Most of the mods are still for 1.6 as far as I know. When we move to 1.7, it'd likely be a new modpack and a new world, but that may be months from now.
okay i thought so but that also begs the question do we want a new world anyway ? i mean same spawn cus no one want to rebuild it :3 but new seed and such maybe so the world is all new and all the dead bases are gone and such (what mod makes the boats in the oceans? and such?
I personally enjoy building spawn and am looking forward to it... There are often major changes between MC versions where keeping the old world brings a lot of problems.
i was just talking about this one and i honestly just don’t want to wait for all the mods to build something i cant help with :3
Well since school is nearly at an end, I decided a few days ago to get back into my (beginning) modding with Forge...any ideas on something I can add that would be useful for our server?
First of all, will this update be compatible with the current world? Removing mods like Mariculture won't help that. Install Thaumic Tinkerer? MagicBees? (if not installed) Ars Magica? (it will have worldgen, though) Update everything possible. I heard that Igneous Extruders were disabled. Enable those? I also have a hunch that OpenBlocks tanks are disabled. (or maybe the mod isn't updated?) Enable those?
Given a choice between RC and Mekanism, I'd choose Mek, despite hating how it configures sides and piping, because it plays better with other mods. RC is fine as a stand-alone mod, but has poor integration, and is buggy. Despite having spent enormous amounts of time finally making my Quantum / Gravi armor, I say dump IC2 as well. That said, if we dump IC2 we need a new drain for power... something to put all that excess Turbine energy towards. Or we need to seriously nerf Turbine outputs... 25k/tick, per turbine, is excessive when there are nearly no RF 'dumps' to put the power into. Right now the only long term power sink is IC2 UU Matter... which is of questionable value anyway. But all this is speculative. A better way to tell? Look at all the mods and count up how many blocks are being placed. We seriously have a BIG excess of mods, and loading is double or triple what it should be. We need to eliminate mods nobody is using, and my opinion is no more valid than anyone else's in this thread. The opinion that matters is in the chunk data. Make a list of every chunk that is /claimed, then total up all the mod blocks that are not part of world-gen in those claimed chunks (WAY faster than counting every block, and concentrates on the blocks that matter, in player bases). I'm sure some valid observations about mod popularity and value can be extracted, and it would be FAR more valuable than any opinion here.
Parts of my base are unclaimed, cuz it's undeveloped and I've been working on becoming builder on vincent. Similarly some people tend not to claim their bases the not yours don't touch line in the rules still stands and data is logged claimed or not. The reason we disabled ig. extruders was because staff had to keep cleaning up bases that were causing lag/crashes. There is a better cobble gen in Extra Utilities, On 1.7: GregTech is moving away from IC2 currently his 1.7 build has his own E-Net, but he has put a warning on it saying 'do not use on a survival world you want to keep.'
