Is anyone interested in playing Left 4 Dead 2 with us?
    • You can be bad at the game. We don't care.
    • You can be good too, but don't be a drama queen.
    • The game frequently goes on sale for $5 USD, so don't bother buying it for $20 USD.
If you're interested, add me on Steam: sk89q

I got the game on the weekend where it was completely free, but I'd have to download it... which will probably take several days with my slow connection. Maybe I can keep my PC on at night? I don't usually do this because it's old and the CPU fan isn't exactly quiet, but I'll try.

I'd be willing to join in, and Walrus might join too.

My PC's specs certainly won't be a problem for L4D2, I wouldn't be surprised if I could completely max the graphics at >60fps. The CPU just has a cheap stock fan which is a bit loud and I can fall asleep more easily if my PC's turned off, that's all.
I do have ping issues in TF2 (I often get kicked from servers with very low ping requirements), this may be the same in L4D2. I don't play any other multiplayer shooters so I can't say too much about that.

Anyway, I have a worse problem right now - I can't even install the game. I tried, but Steam tries to create game cache files forever and nothing happens at all. Will google for this tomorrow, I just wanted to let it download overnight because I'm going to bed now.

It is possible to buy the game without a sale but at a lower price by buying Mann Co. Keys (valued at $2.30-$2.50/key) and trading them for the game. The usual price you can get L4D2 for is at 3 keys, which puts L4D2 at around $7 if you are getting keys off of the TF2 market.

Steam doesn't let you pause downloads and resume them later?

Of course it does. I have to let it download overnight because my internet is crap. If I let it download a whole day I'd probably get 3 GB, but I can't do that because I have better things to do than endlessly downloading a game I'm not even particularly interested in. I'd only install this to play games with people I know better than some random anons on public TF2 servers.

Anyway. I can download updates or install any game just fine, just not L4D2. I've gone 5 pages into different google searches now and I didn't really find a solution... just one person's advice to install the game to a different location, it didn't work.

Do you get your Internet from somewhere that blocks things?

Nope, no blocks. Only things blocked in Germany are VERY illegal things like murder and child porn stuff which is perfectly okay to me. Anyway, no website I have ever visited was blocked, no software traffic was tampered with, especially not Steam... and I don't get why I would be able to install everything but L4D2. Installing it on Windows works as well, but I will not use Windows as long as my new keyboard won't work on it (I'm currently working on it with the manufacturer's support staff). I'll see about this. For now I have TPPI and some other games to play.
