The title says it all. Many people don't know how to do this, and I am too reluctant to mess up the client.

It is not harming anything by being in the client, so no need to push a client update just for that. I am sure it will be removed in the next client update.

Don't more mods add more lag?

Nolan, your computer may exceed the minimum spec by two or three times; mine does not. I lost 30 sec on every boot dumping CQ, and 100MB of sustained RAM usage. I agree that it should be removed from the client; most people will not know how to remove it themselves.

It is already removed from our repository therefore it will go next time an update is pushed. In the mean time if you bothered simply go to the mods folder while the game is NOT running and delete the chocolate quests jar. Even if you are not confident doing things with your computer not A lot can go wrong and if it does you can always re download the pack. Not the end of the world!

    what next update

Seriously though, save for the removal of CQ, there hasn't been a single push to the modpack repository in four weeks. I gave up on the current state of Alice weeks ago.

I can push the removal to clients easily, though.

My computer can barely handle MC, it is a DDR2 system with 4 gigs of memory. The only slight upgrade I have is a 9800gt graphics card, even with that if I run MC in windows I get 15 fps and I cannot even open chrome with it without locking up my computer.

The only reason I can play on alice tolerably is because I seek out every possible way of gaining performance, including self compiling java, running in a minimalist linux distro, setting nice levels and defining specific cores for MC. I have even been able to run Alice quite well with 1024mb allocated to it.

30 seconds on load? meh, it already takes ages to start up and I start it probably 5 mins at least before I want to play anyway. 100mb? that is not all that much, and if it is not used java's GC will give it the boot if the space is really needed, it is not a game breaker by any means. Alice can run on 1024mb, but will use more if it is given the room. Pushing an update to remove a mod that is purely clientside and not even being ran for reasons of memory reduction in this situation would be like taking a tea cup and scooping some water out of the hoover damn because it is too full.

Wha... I used to play FTB Ultimate pack on Windows with a Pentium 4 and 2 GB DDR2, and I got 30+ FPS as long as I was on a server. Even used Short view distance instead of Tiny. Either your CPU is really bad or the graphics card plays a much bigger role than I thought because I already had the GTX 550 Ti which I still use today.

Still, I feel ya. I tried to play Minecraft when I still had a á¹”entium 3 and 512 MB RAM... the horror *shudder*
