One suggestion: OpenComputers to replace ComputerCraft... possibly. Although we already have ComputerCraft, this mod is more complex, with computers being harder to make. It still uses Lua as a programming language but computers and turtles are better designed in my opinion. They have native support for many mods so things like OpenPeripherals are built in. Obviously the persistent feature could cause issues, and I do doubt this will go in, but I can try nonetheless. You can find the forum page here.
Wow, that actually looks pretty sick. I need to try this out. edit: Seems like they do the same things (less) than ComputerCraft, but look cooler.
A lot of that seems centered around the robots, which would be useless for us, as they would be disabled anyway. I just want to wait for CC 1.6, it has some features I really want that I doubt opencomputers is going to have. (POCKET COMPUTERS!!!!, TABS!!!) And personally this seems to make computers much more complicated to work with. CC is already complicated and confusing enough to get started with, thank you. Also, it seems like openperipherals *may* not work with it, so I would have to give up my terminal glasses, not good >.>
You make entirely valid points, sir. For now, I agree, but hopefully Alice 1.7 will bring lost of awesome features!
This is definitely one we'll be keeping our eyes on for 1.7. As of right now, we won't add it simply because as Nolan pointed out it lacks some features of CC other players already utilize and depend on. Maybe by the time it's time to roll over to 1.7 or 1.8 this will have taken off and surpassed CC. Only time will tell.
I personally am rather reluctant to move from CC to this, but it does look pretty interesting with all the supported addons.
