    You do know there are parasitic trees/plants that do indeed grow on top of/on other trees.... There is even an albino tree(one of a kind, not a species) that gets all of its nutrients from the roots of other trees as it cannot photosynthesize.

    You do know that these trees are sitting on top of other trees? No direct access to the Earth? I know not of any type of leaves that can support the weight of a mature tree, or of leaves that can provide enough nutrients to sustain the growth cycle of a regular tree.
