I've asked for someone to profile our setup multiple times on the server, but since that tool is broken, we can't effectively optimize this for the server. We can make best guesses, but that doesn't matter if it turns out the exact opposite. We don't have proof that it's negatively impacting the server, and haven't been supplied a solution, if it is. So if you have a better solution that is PROVEN to work, by all means I'm open to suggestions. I could revert to the old way of generating cobblestone if you want, but I'm sure the timer will really ruin your days. Edit: The lack of skeleton egg spawners being thrown in our base... Shameful.
we never actually built that setup, we just calced what was required and then chose not to build it until free fuel was provided.
If I played on the server regularly then sure. But I don't. With simple TE knowledge you can work out that they will output into one another, therefore using one pipe for a stack of them. Also I am failing to see why it is necessary to create 10 billion cobble per second...??
I tried outputting them into one another and it didn't work. So something must be wrong with it, or something.
Yeah, that's when people use 30 of them at once. I wish there were a way to limit the amount of quarries one person could place... or a way to be able to trust people more
Yes, there is way It's called white list, when i first joined Alice there was active white list wich required writing about yourself, and then when you vaiolate rules of building / playing you simply get banned EDIT: it looks taht white list form is still online http://apply.skcraft.com/apply
The server is not public, it's just that it seems to have gotten much much easier to get through the whitelisting process now.
"MINE"craft, learn to love that part. Auto defaces the value of a ore/ingot, since you did no work but setting the machines up for you, and you have endless supplies at your disposal. There is no reason for you to have that many of a item anymore, there is no gregtech to dump them into, even then there was a point that it was unneeded. Go mine for a day, use rotary/mek, gg. 4x-5x output, and that isn't enough?
On another server I was on, (a Tekkit Classic server - name can be provided to staff if desired) that function was exactly what they had for energy collectors, by way of a plug-in. You could place a set number of Mk 1, less of Mk 2, and a small number of Mk 3. I forget exact numbers, but one of them was 17, I remember that. (Think that was Mk 2, I believe 34 was Mk 1.) Also applied to Mass Fabs, max 2.When you placed one, it was deducted from your total, when you broke one you owned, it was added back. If you did not have credit available, it simply would not place the block, giving you an error message saying you didn't have enough credits to place it. Voting for the server would give you credits toward earning these. Having seen this in action, I know it can be done, on a per block basis.
Thenrin, it's certainly possible to allow auto-mining on a limited basis, I am not disagreeing. I disagree with the necessity, and the return-on-investment. It takes a lot of work to set up per-user limits on blocks, and leads to more mod overhead 'Why can't I place this block?' 'Can you refund me for the 30 quarries I built? I didn't know it was 1 at a time.' 'I broke my quarry, but it will not let me put it back down...' etc. With good mining tools, and places like the Deep Dark, combined with 5x processing, it's hard to imagine a reasonable setup that requires more than 10% of your time spent mining. Of course, getting to those good tools and good processing requires some build up, but that's part of the game... you always start out small. Finally, regardless of the limit placed on automining it will always encourage idlers to keep chunks loaded. This is directly detrimental to the server, and no limitation on the amount of automining will limit this. Whether you have one Mining Laser or 50, you will want the chunk to be kept active either way, and that will reduce the tickrate for the players actually trying to do something fun. No system is perfect. But I still think it is premature to write this off after only a month.
