But mostly ppl said "i want to play hard, but please no hunger-death because i can't play minecraft" Make a bigger free-wheat farm at spawn and it's done. IMHO.
I live super-far away from the spawn though... so not much of a fix for the hunger as I am so far away from spawn it takes forever for anything to grow... I have like 50 sapling everywhere and not one has grown yet. fail?
The growth problem is a bug (i guess, was mentioned the other time but fixed?). So it's not really a difficulty problem ...
I think that people need to be able to say why they want normal or hard. If you have a good reason for voting for normal or hard, I think you should try to justify it. If there's a specific attribute that you like say so! Personally, I like the more difficult mobs, they just weren't scary before. I don't like mobs spawning in lit areas, a creeper popping up in your walled construction zone is just obnoxious. Zombies that stalk the player and break down doors are cool. Also, I like hunger. A farm is easy enough to set up, and dying from carelessness is a good aspect. If hunger doesn't kill you there's no challenge.
I prefer normal cause this is too hard, too many mobs (maybe normal) but the hunger is simply impossible We don't have time to survive for this, we're not all pro of farming, I think this feature mst be removed and so the server will be better FOR ME, I wait for replies to see what happens
The number of mobs doesn't change with other difficulties. I thought the wheat growth was fixed? If you keep dieing, try another way to survive ... that's the game... If you can't play on Hard, maybe try James once it's back up . Edit: waited too long with the reply, didn't saw daves comment.
Well, it is called survival, it just depends up on what do people want. I don't think hunger is such a big problem, you can grow your own food, and if it's bugged, can't you use bonemeal? So go kill some skeletons! I'm up for hard
At first I thought I didn't care either way, but I actually enjoy the higher difficulty alot. The only way to die in normal difficulty is falling in lava, as you become near immortal with just iron armor. Crafting and enchanting your equipment now actually pays off. Fighting endermen is even a fun challenge now. Getting enough food is not realy an issue if you manage to live through the first 30 minutes. Hunting, fishing, lumberjacking (apples) are more than enough to keep yourself from starving imho, also there is bonemeal. If I wanted to be immortal I would play creative. I don't see any reasons to revert back to normal difficulty.
The only things that perturb me about hard difficulty is the ability of wooden doors to be broken down. Granted, this is quite a fun thing to happen, and defensible, too, but for some people who have either just started, or like myself have built a stately home, using doors other than wood would spoil the aesthetic. Granted, this isn't James, but I'd still like to have some nice buildings dotted around. Hunger is a non-issue, as you can just have one square of water to grow like 80 wheat around. It seems as though normal is winning, in any case.
