I don't understand that belief either. The nether with BOP and Natura added a reason to go there, the vanilla nether is the most ugliest thing I've ever seen, with lava and red rock everywhere. There's pretty much no reason to go there without some kind of nether biome generator acting on the server. Plus the new BOP nether actually adds some mobs and other dangers that make the nether more exciting.
That is a client mod, I believe they were just listing the plugins, Opis, Zan's minimap and Gammabright were not listed either.
An arcane bore possibly, with it being more late game in thaumcraft. It also can't mine like a quarry does. So a mining bore may be a consideration
