Alice 1.4 started with Millénaire on the first day. It was removed after a few days as it was deadlocking the server. I already went through like 20 pages of MC forums yesterday, like I used to do in 1.4, and we have like 40 new mods of many different sorts on the list to consider.
Not to say you're wrong, but you might have it confused with something else. Are you sure you're not talking about Mo' Creatures? Because I remember 1.4 quite well, but I do not remember having Millénaire...
Are we going to have the Bazaar again if the map resets? Or is a player going to have to make it legit this time around?
Yes, but then you lose that big network of players (lesser sales, and limited variety), more reliable method of trading, and now you can only trade when both players are online. If you're going to go that route, you may as well just meet eachother at a place you both can easily get to like the Bazaar we have now. It accomplishes the same thing while cutting out the enderchest 'middleman' so to speak.
Like somebody mentioned in the mod suggestion page for 1.6, pregenerated prevents some people building fantastic home because they have a pregenerated home to live in.
That has got no basis for reasoning whatsoever. Saying pregenerated structures prevent people from build "fantastic homes" implies that anyone living in a generated building is a fantastic builder. I've known sooooo many people who have used a village as a base of operations for a few weeks, then actually built a really good base.
My preference would be for a prebuilt Bazaar. While it was fun making the original bazaar, it was built fairly late-game when there was zero resource scarcity. Remember dark district? I crafted most of those inverted lamps in one AE request. The haphazard nature of the build caused some issues that Buttons and I tried to overcome this time around as well. By building the Bazaar as part of the pre-launch process we can provide a space for trading right away, and players can start shops on day one. The bazaar was our answer to the lack of a official market space (like some old maps/servers had). Now that we have a claiming system, and moderator support I don't see a problem with the Bazaar moving more towards the old market role.
To think about it, Millénaire might have not even lasted until launch. But we definitely had it. I remember having to remove a hideously broken settlement from spawn because we had to remove the mod. It was probably only on the spawn build server. I tried literally every mod that was reasonably decent. MineChem, Millénaire, etc. I've tried many mods. I'm not sure why you'd have to live in a pregenerated home. Nothing stops you from building anew.
Yeah, it's good when it's prebuilt so people can start trading right away but then it's more server-official instead of being built by players, for players. I mean blocks of Zinc? Really? It was just missing that 'this was built in survival' feeling. I mean it's cool if it's server-official (it already is since everything is cheated in) but regular players shouldn't be on the Bazaar staff at that point since it was built by mods and most of the maintenance requires mods even thou they wanted nothing to do with the economy but now they have everything to do with it.
So have we decided on a server reset also how much notice will you give us before the server restart?
As far as I can tell, it's all discussion still, nothing has been decided. But I'm guessing if it does happen, there would be an announcement and/or a week before it's actually reset. I really have no idea, that's just my guess.
The only "regular" player was Glitch and I don't know who's idea it was in initially but Buttons and Glitch have done the bazaar for a few years now.
No need to wait after the announcement tbh. When/if it gets announced, people will stop playing, because why bother anymore. Just get it over with and start anew asap.
Are you on crack or PCP? The Bazaar was started in 1.4 which I don't think was more than 365dy ago when it was being built legitly but now this time around almost everything in it is spawned and was done by mods so it's server-official. When we had the idea for a market/currency, it was Button's idea to mimic The Bazaar irl and I was also one of the founders!
You sure are a pretentious little shit aren't ya—I meant maps. 1.4 1.5 and 1.6 all had a player bazaar. @Yousei I'd rather a newer mod pack team with lazy members removed take the time to test the pack out before they do a reset to avoid this situation again.
So the MPT is: Fluttermine MPT Lead ZoomerX MPT Co-Lead buttonsinpjs Joe12o Pathaleon sk89q tonius11Fluttermine is constantly checking on mods and configs and upcoming changes to mods to try to make sure they'll work with Alice. Maybe not be balanced as everyone would like, but constantly making sure things work. He's a little Stockholm Syndromed about GT, but otherwise works his ass off to make sure things run smoothly. Zoomer has worked himself to exhaustion several times trying to get the mod pack collected and processed and making sure the server is up and running well for everyone. He's constantly trying to get both the pack and server running better. buttons put in hours of work and continues to to help make the player bazaar work for people. During beta he also helped find many issues with later game items and mods. Joe has been instrumental in making custom options for us and allowing us to item by item blacklist or adjust items so that griefing and issues can be avoided. Path and tonius have given us a great mod with RF based jetpacks and other useful and fun items while also helping tweak the mod pack constantly. I don't think there's been a day where those guys haven't been trying to improve something. sk had been busy during most of beta but is here now trying to make SKCraft the best it can be. So, sorry Cromy, but I don't think it's fair to call anyone on the MPT "lazy".
Bottom line is: Regardless of all they have done; All of this could have been avoided if the MPT was more vigilant when they were testing stuff for 1.6 . I do find it funny that all of this did not happen by my hand for once
