(image from the forum thread)Chisel!(it's as simple as the name is)http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1749374-164smpforge-chisel/ SummarySimply put, this mod adds quite a lot of new unique decorative blocks. If you watch BevoLJ's videos, you'll see these fancy blocks a ton in his Resonant Rise series.Personally, I think even non-fancy people like myself would be able to spruce up a base with these blocks. The only problem I can think of is the massive amount of blockID (if that's even an issue in modern minecraft)The developer includes permission to stick it in modpacks on the thread. If I had to guess. It would take a ton of time for the MPT to either configure the recipes, or sell them at spawn. I wouldn't put your hopes up too much, but we can still definitely hope
I think that this mod has incredibly ugly blocks although its a nice concept. Kinda like the chiselled stuff from Tinkers Construct.
There is another issue with this, and that is Worldgen. I've seen the veins of blocks, and they are absolutely huge. I think this will a) annoy players like salt did, b) invalidate the seed, or c) both. It's also very very ugly.
The worldgen... I have no argument for that. I expected that to be a problem, but figured it wasn't completely necessary for the mod. The ugly part, I guess I have no taste or something lol
A couple of the blocks look alright, the rest are quite ugly in my opinion. The worldgen issue is probably going to block this entirely, simply because we can't even risk invalidating the seed. We will have to look in to this further before anything can be said for sure, but as of right now I wouldn't get my hopes up for this mod.
I have 7 players whom I've invited to play on SK craft that say completely otherwise. Those blocks add quite a few options and are far from ugly. However, World gen and seed invalidation is a very relevant concern IMHO. As for annoying players I think at this point the quarry speeds, lag, gregtech granite are far more annoying than these blocks could ever be. But I will play none the less.
It's been so long since I messed with a Minecraft server that I have no clue what seed invalidation is, but I can imagine it's pretty bad. I understand those concerns though, maybe eventually it'll work out. It depends on the person really, in my opinion if one doesn't like how it looks they simply shouldn't use it.
Ores are placed during 'chunk population' and do not affect how terrain is generated (and do not invalidate a seed). That is not to say that this mod doesn't invalidate seeds, but it likely does not.
