Right now, regular users do not have write access to the new Wiki. This is a bit sad because, despite not being old, it is severely outdated and could use a lot more articles. Mods and admins who are allowed to edit don't have the time to write extensive articles because of reallife and other responsibilities concerning SKCraft, and because of this the Wiki is lacking everywhere.

I'd love to see this changed. A Wiki is not a Wiki if nobody is allowed to edit it. It's a community resource that should be read and expanded. And the wiki certainly won't edit itself - if the mountain won't come to the prophet, the prophet needs to go to the mountain. Imagine all the questions we could answer with a simple Wiki link, but cannot do so because there are only like ten articles. The only link I see on chat regularly is the one for claiming land.

Quite a few articles, like a complete mod list (*cough*) with links to their mod pages/FTB wiki page, should be in there but are not. Of course it's pointless to create articles for all the items since you can check most things on the FTB wiki, but it would be good to be able to easily find out differences and changes which are special to Alice.

I my honest opinion the old Wiki is better anyway because it uses standard MediaWiki software which everyone knows. If you ever used Wikipedia then you can use the old SKCraft Wiki as well. It also features lots of great formatting options. That obscure custom software you're using for the new Wiki may look good, but honestly it just seems to be a forum with restricted formatting options to which nobody has access.

Additionally, the old Wiki has way more articles and it is easier to update existing articles than to write new ones for the new Wiki. It might be best to just drop the new wiki for good, because being able to use a Wiki the way it was intended is infinitely more important than a look that fits to the rest of the SKCraft page.

If you want to continue using the new Wiki, then please give people access to it. I would volunteer to "port" articles from the old Wiki to the new one (or the other way around, depending on your choice) if they're still applicable, and also write some articles to encourage others to read and edit. I want to see this being used. Why do you even have a Wiki if you ignore it? This is really sad.

We did begin to resurrect the old wiki however with the 1.6 mod pack things quickly ground to a halt.

Personally, I think the new wiki is not needed because(I hate to admit this but it's quite true), we are practically FTB+tekkit+some-other-small-mods so most of the items can be found of the FTB/Tekkit wikis. The smaller mods are not as technical so the NEI will do just fine.

All our wiki needs is on commands and information about the server, which we already have.

While yes, that is the case with the FTB wiki and such documenting the mods; What we had planned a few months back, was to document all the things differential specific to alice (recipes, interaction etc etc). So in the actual mod usage, no we do not need another wiki. But it terms of everything else, it would definitely be nice to have more documentation that's not so spread out.

FTB wouldn't have GT documentation or any other mods that are "too good for them". Also, the pack is actually configured, with several recipes changed, and you couldn't find that on any of the wikis you mentioned. Also, please stop comparing us to FTB/Tekkit, our pack is of much higher quality.

Good to know that. Since the old Wiki is still accessible and editable, I'll do some work on it. I only hesitated because I didn't know if you wanted to keep the new one.

That's what I thought as well. I think it's best to only give a short explanation of the mod and info about changes we did to them in our Wiki pages and then link to the actual mod documentation, Minecraft forums thread, and/or FTB wiki page.

    That.

Suggesting that the mod team produces a custom made FTB/tekkit pack is just silly.

Well I am not trying to compare, but usually the FTB wiki works just fine. The recipe changes can be easily looked up on NEI. Yes, FTB is missing Gregtech due to the fact that they make it "appropriate for all ages" hueh hue hue, see what I did there?

My impression of the mod community for minecraft is not a good one, it is very childish in that mod authors get severely butt hurt when another mod author makes a change that impacts their mod. What is more surprising is that there is not someone else out there whom out of spite makes a mod called "Improved Technology" That does similar things as GregTech just with more customization.

Where as mod authors on say the Nexus Mod community seem to understand that the mods they create and release to the community are for use by the end-user and it up to that person to configure the mod as they would like. Which can be done via a scripted installer or simply through load order.
