(maybe making a megathread to prevent clutter would be nice?) Anyway, I would like a few sounds to be added, including 1 from Half-Life 2: Episode 2, 2 from Stargate: Atlantis, and 3 from Black Mesa Source. I have also converted them to .ogg files.
The Half-Life one sounds cool IMO. But to be honest, I think all the others sound really weird and don't really 'make sense' to me as alarms. I will add the Half-Life one to the 1.6 pack, and I will see what the others think about the other sounds.
Neither does lady gaga, justin bieber, or nyan cat, but they're still there (I also have some other alarms from black mesa if anybody wants to hear them)
I made the file for the Nyan cat, but didn't add it. I'll look at the alarms later and we can see about putting them in 1.6.
As someone who has been marathoning his shiny new copy of Stargate Atlanis since Christmas, the second alarm doesn't sound right. :C (AtlantisLockdown)
I was going to say, because the sound steps are too pronounced, so distinct notes, rather than blended. I forget the musical term for that.
That's called glissando if the notes smoothly "glide" from one pitch into the other, or legato if it's less smooth but without breaks between the notes. The opposite is staccato: clear breaks/pauses between notes. Source: I'm currently learning to read sheet music.
