Will we be able to download the Alice world after the map gets reset? I think quite a number of people would want to be able to keep some of the things they have built.
We begged for a the map last time around, but got no traction. I even offered to copy and host the world files externally, so transferring them off the production server would be fast and there would be no bandwidth issues. Nothing. Oh well, take a lot of screenshots and maybe some video.
That's an interesting idea. Maybe a command could be implemented to select the boundaries of your base and generate a schematic, which could be put on the ftp or something I would like to record my base design for future reference, for once it's not a square box in the ground but a bunch of squares in the side of a mountain, so I was happy with it >_>
Disregard previous posts, if we can get a reliable and suitable way of hosting this map it can and will be done. I will personally assist the copying and I can even upload it to somewhere for someone.

If you don't want to do a torrent, http://mega.co.nz is probably the second best; Considering a free account gives you 50GB free storage and 10GB of bandwidth, as well as their download method.
If we did torrent, half the people who download would probably either not remove or forget to remove the file from their torrenting program so they would be seeding it for others. That would probably be one of the best ways since all file sharing sites I know of do not allow 16GB files, or even 2GB files.
Or people will download and forget, which most people do with torrents these days. We don't really have a community large enough to support a torrent with seeds for longer than.. say.. a month? I think Dropbox is a good option, with it's drawbacks of course. There is no file size limit (when uploaded with the client), and you can have massive amounts of storage (depending on the user, I have 3.6GB of storage total whereas my friend has about 77gb because he bought a GS3) I'm not too sure if there's a noticeable upload cap on Dropbox - I have 200KB/s upload speed with my internet so there's no way I can really tell. Although my friend said he's seen it go up to 2MB/s Edit: Helpful hint if you use Dropbox: Preferences -> Bandwidth -> Don't Limit. Dropbox automatically has it set to limit from the software.
I suppose DropBox is a possibility, but I don't think most people have that much storage available. My school gave me a 30GB Google Drive account for free (Well $1800 a year for my laptop)
If you refer to my latest post edit, a friend of mine has 77GB because he bought a GS3 phone and invited a few people, so it's easily possible. The map is 16GB, and I bet using 7z or UHARC can get it to maybe half or two thirds the size
The problem with dropbox - like many normal forms of downloading, has a risk of corrupting the files if the network fucks up. Meaning, you'd have to download again; And with the file being 16GB, it would probably happen a lot.
