If we don't use a global market, and require that people buy from specific other users, they'd have to shop around at some market to find these pipes to link to.
You know what would be fucking awesome. For those that have played runescape will know what i mean. The grand exchange that they introduced was a great way of buying new stuff from others if we could have something along those lines i think that would be a good addition to the server.
Oh god, the grand exchange... it was a great place. I remember I used to do all those helmet runs for money ^O^ A Grand Exchange block would be great, its practically a stock market for items.
It's not a stock market. It's a market. A stock market is where you trade equity. We have avoided having a global market because it makes it easy for one person to screw up the market, especially when there aren't 30,000 players on at a time.
Yes Mad. A global market is not a good idea. Part of the fun building the shops and seeing what others come up with.
I get that you are against everything I am suggesting here. No need to be that way. Just merely a suggestion.
Ugh, fine.its the new ebay, happy? :3 I dunno about the block taking the fun out of building a shop, I mean like, I am such an efficient person that I CACULATE time down to the second so an instant ebay would be great for me
What about local markets? A primary block that lists all trades in an area around it. GKnova had an idea for doing this with CC about 10 months ago. Something about reading and displaying trades from trade-o-mats. You could either visit the shop or use a terminal to make the trade. Barter trades would require you to visit the shop but if you had currency you could do the trade at the terminal.
I don't think we ever checked, but the idea was to use misc peripherals to get information from trade-o-mats, and then display that on a directory or index. It would be cool, but the shop machine would need to output that data, and I don't know if trade-o-mats even do.
I wanted to do something similar this time around but whenever CC is mentioned, it's automatically too complicated to have on this server. The idea was something along the lines of a POS machine where you'd use something like a debit card or another 1 out of the 3 authentication factors, choose what you want (make the transaction), then your items get transferred to you which can be done a few ways.
It's only too complicated when you try to get others to do what you won't. How about you show us what you can do?
What? I don't remember pushing anything on anyone. And, for starters heres something that I paused work on as there was 0 views which I assume means 0 interest. I can start again thou.:
Never saw the video. I think it was uploading/processing for a very long time when you posted before. The problem with building a currency exchange is not the back end. The challenging part is building front end computers that are secure for both buyers and sellers. It's where at least 90% of the coding would be required as well. Without MiscPeripherals dealing with authentication/authorization will be a pain as well. It's not that any of that is necessarily impossible, but is making it happen how you want to spend your next hundred free hours?
