Wish there was. From what I know it impacts performance a lot. Only quarries can do it. Personally I don't like people using alts because they're working around the game mechanics with it. Chunkloading is not possible for normal players, these guys do it anyway. There's no rule about alts being forbidden but they're certainly not expressly allowed. I think this is a serious balance issue and I'd love it to be adressed.
Chunk loaders were removed because weird things were happening with it on chunk loader-loaded chunks. I rather have chunk loaders though, but they like bring a ton of problems.
It seems like my base is being loaded somehow when I'm logged out because I log out with fairly full boilers then log back in and they are empty... it's a real pain for my power gen...
Oh okay, so it wasn't the performance. What exactly are the issues with them? ChickenBones gives a 100% bug-free guarantee and he promised to fix anything people manage to find. If I write about it in his thread he might do something if it's within his possibilities.
I think the bugs are mostly due to the custom server software we use (MCPC-Plus). The forge modders can't and won't support MCPC+ in most cases. MCPC+ is kind of a hacky way to run both Forge mods and Bukkit plugins, hence there can very well be bugs with both mods and plugins.
