The poll is to determine how much the farm is wanted. The plan is to build it like the old one, using bees with the explorer effect. However until I obtain alvearies the farm will use apiaries. The plan is to use ae import and export buses to pump bees in and out of the apiaries. However I can't make ae stuff or engines yet. Please send donations to TechMasterAllen via mailbox or contact me ingame.
There is a bee keeper jar that has the effect of a bee that lasts for half the life of a queen at the cost of a drone; so if you where to get max fert queen and pump out lots of drones into these jars then you could get a super effective farm without using as many alvarys and seeing they only take up one space and are compatible with pipes ae etc this would make the xp farm super effective in comparison with older methods. good luck with your project, and i hope you consider implementing this idea for the sake of all who use the xp farm.
Pab and Unknown focused more on combs than actual output of xp, I've been told when you get something for free you pay for the "ree"
So you're going to team up with them? I would just say leave it all to them. They did such a nice job with the building, I hope they would do it again.
Me and ghostpotato will build the structure then hand 99% of control of the project to pablode and Unknown. Then they can modify The building as they see fit. I have to add them to the list of people permitted to build in the area I have claimed for the farm.
Hey guys, thanks for all the interest in the xp farm and to all who want to support us or want to build one themselves, you're welcome I just wanted to throw some things in: since alice 1.4, a lot of things have changed. The explorer-effect solution worked really well, and also it prevented social problems and disputs because everyone got the same amount of xp and could use it whenever and where they want. The only main problems with the system was the disappearing of princesses due to Buildcraft pipe bugs (which could be easily fixed by using an AE system) and the high price of it (73 alvearies, best bee traits and processing systems were very expensive and time consuming). Instead of using alvearies, apiaries could be used to gain even more xp, if it is really needed (xCromyx). In our opinion though, it wasn't really necessary because the farm was already pretty fast; fast enough. Although the bee-solution has many benefits to it and also produces side-products, there might be even better alternatives or hybrid-farms to use. With MFR for example, we would be able to auto-enchant books, sort and manage them. Since many people would use the farm, it would require a lot of mob-essence though (which can only be gained from mobs), so this solution is very unlikely the one to go. Getting the essence would take longer than gaining xp with the other solutions and the mobs would lag the server. The last alternative i can think of might be using xp berries (essence oreberry bushes). Once the bushes are fully grown, they'll reproduce berries which give xp by eating them. I've been very interested in them from the start on and recently looked into automating them. Fortunately, they work perfectly with MFR harvesters. This method would not be as complicated, there would be no side-products and it would not be nearly as expensive as 73 alvearys, breeding 80+ best available bees and constructing a complicated processing system. Everyone who has such bushes could donate and make the farm even faster by doing that. That way, you could carry and trade xp, store it and send it through tesseracts and enderchests to private houses. Please let me know what you think of these three ideas, Pablode
