So Viper, myself and a few others were crunching numbers and since ender pumps/tanks are a great source of power, if we keep on having lava turn to stone (which i understand reduces lag) the nether is going to need to be reset at least once week. Which can be a hassle...so Viper and I came up with a solution... Change the config of lava in the nether to act as an infinite source in a 3x3 or 4x4 area and have it regen itself. Or even a 1x1 source with an ender pump over it. This will reduce the nether being regened and make it easier on players to get energy. This all of course applies to work in the nether or mining world (which gets reset anyways)
This would remove the need for chunk loading as well as you could pump from lava in main world; Personally i think this is an awesome idea sure it would remove a degree of difficulty but the amount of CPU saved would be huge.
If I could get Sk89q or other staff to comment and leave ideas for this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Considering the nether is going to be regenerated on a regular basis now with the opening of 1.5 for us. I don't think we will be considering this anytime soon; Regardless, it's unnecessary work since there is no config for it and plus it could cause extraneous problems if lava could regenerate like water. All in all chances of it happening = Very little; Especially since it can all be remedied by just regenerating the nether.
Ah yes I didn't know there wasn't a config for the lava to stone thing from ender pumps. Thank you Neon.
I can see the problems with lava regenerating like water but I think mostly if we could find a way to make it just make a pump like that work over a 1x1 hole of lava it will reduce the nether from having to regenerated so frequently... xD Just my idea but I understand completely.
