i already did in me test version. lel

All joking aside, I have been testing mods with 1.5.2 and it wasn't very stable. Is 1.5.1 more stable?

What's wrong with updating the mods, but leaving the world as it currently is?

1.5 mods are buggy as hell. The 1.5.1 mods are "something" around ok, but with 1.5.2 things get messy and not suitable for a real server. Also IndustrialCraft2 hasn't reached a recommend build yet and they are changing a few things (i.e. the API) that break addons & co. Besides that we also would need a replacement for wireless redstone chicken bones edition, since it needs RP2.

Then what happens with buildings like mine that are about 90% created using RP2 Blocks (Basalt and Marble) and the RP2 machines? I use relays, pipes and sorting machines and I think a refund would be nice (or a replacement for them). The bases could be changed using WorldEdit with "//replace [rp2block] [newblock]", but that would need some time too.

PS: I would love to help, I'm kinda uncomfortable with just sitting around :/

There is only two problems I can see with this.
Micro blocks and Logic gates. Micro blocks can be replaced with imibis (maybe?)
but I have not found any equivalent on logic gates :( This would severely limit redstone building capabilitys!

If you had listened to anything anyone has said, or done some research yourself. You would've known that MFR adds a rednet block. Which is all the RP2 logic gates and then some, compacted into 1 block.

Ok I am sorry, I didnt feel like watching the really long mod spotlight at the time. I probably should of (and will now) watched it before commenting.

Just for clarifications sake, if we choose our chunks to be "keep", will all our items and stuff still exist?

For what sk has said. I would expect so. It would basically just leave the chunks untouched, and only resetting the chunks that do not have the 'keep' signs in them.

I voted no because, first of all what would happen to already placed rp2 blocks in people's chunks. Also well new terrain and new chunks might be cool I don't really like the idea because of the jagged edges. With my luck a mountain would spawn on the chunk next to me and destroy the rest of the river that i haven't claimed. I also don't see why we should update to 1.5 at all what does it really add that we want?

Look at the changelogs of the mods. There is more than a ton of stuff added and improved. Do a little big more research before posting, thank you.
Also I already addressed the thing with the RP2 blocks in my post above, it's easy to replace them with WorldEdit, only the amount of work could be problem.
The only problem would be the jagged edges, but that can be fixed too.
PS: I don't want to be rude, not that someone thinks that :(

lawl, u dummy. He won't be able to keep it because if we remove RP2, basalt will cease to exist. Unless sk writes a tool or uses midas gold to go over the world and replace rp2 basalt/marble/stuffz with the railcraft equivalent.

it's not even clear if sk will do it ... he will announce it on a new thread, be sure of it.
and for the basalt replacement: sk will have to do that anyway because lotsa holes of marble in the world.

Also note that Biomes O'Plenty has a whole volcano-themed biome, complete with a smoky sky. Isn't that even more awesome? Transferred bases would still need the basalt fix, of course, though.
