The MFR 'wire' acts like bundled cable, so there is no need to transition between wire and cable. It's also free standing, so there is no jacketed cable version to deal with and no stitching. It may not be as pretty as RP2 wiring, but it's more compact and should be even more effective when combined with computers acting as logic circuits.
Ah, looks ok I guess, it'll definitely be something to play around with. I'm for adding it, now about the world generation.
I don't see why there is still talk about a reset. Majority of people voted to wait for Redpower. It'd be ashame to see that discarded. Additionally, can this 'keep chunk' concept be applied to the mining world considering it was just recently reset? Maybe even apply it to future resets and only allow us to 'keep' a certain number of chunks each in the mining world so we can keep our quarries?
I don't know I just started on building a lumber area; my goal is to eventually have all the forestry trees free for creative builds, but I still need to breed a number of trees it would be a shame to have to start it over.
We're talking about dumping RP2 because it could be months before it's updated, and every other mod has updated to 1.5.1 and now 1.5.2. The only major functionality lost will be frames, and that will probably show up in one of the other mods before long.
Honestly I don't think RP is a major loss given that anything like frame bores would likely end up being disabled. The red alloy wire, bassalt, and ore gen is about the only thing RP is good for in my book, and from what I've seen MFR has an acceptable replacement. If it is also comparable with facades then the wire it self being ugly isn't so bad.
Because this wasn't even an option on that poll. That aside, these are not mutually exclusive possibilities. Even if we do wait for RP2, I still want to go ahead with the biome generator change.
You do realize I'm talking about this poll, right? http://skcraft.com/threads/on-the-subject-of-minecraft-1-5.1948/ Is it no longer relavent or something?
I like the idea of keeping my area, but if I want to keep an area does it have to be claimed by me? What about claimed at all?
Why even update to 1.5 though? We're losing one of the major well known mods and a lot of my stuff runs using it in someway. Plus, why move over to Biomes A'Plenty? That will make the chunk gaps even worse if they affect things inside the chunks too like the autumn trees and red rock biomes, that probably won't move over easily or even at all.
RP2 is rarely updated and new features are added a glacial pace. A year or two ago RP2 was a must-have mod. It had quite a few features no other mods offered. That is no longer the case. Because of the slow update pace and lack of new features, other mods have caught up. Most of the features that made RP2 a must-have can now be done with other mods. In fact, many of RP2's core functions are poorly optimized, and are best avoided anyway. In short, we don't need to wait who knows how long for an RP2 update.
The update is going to be great. So many of the mods we're using now have been updated with new toys in 1.5.
