To continue the discussion of an update to Minecraft 1.5, I'd like to seriously consider: Moving straight to Minecraft 1.5.1. Not installing RedPower2. Installing Minefactory Reloaded as a replacement for RP2 (although not yet tested) Resetting all chunks that have not been marked "keep" (to be implemented) Changing the biome generator to Biomes o' Plenty. Possibly install Natura and other world generation mods. This would result in jagged borders around kept chunks, but these can be manually fixed later on. Aside from that issue, the advantages would be: If you want to start fresh, don't mark your chunks as "keep" -- you'll begin anew. If you have ongoing builds, they will continue as normal and you can continue where you have left off. Everyone gets mod updates for 1.5, as well as the updates added in vanilla 1.5. Totally brand new biomes, new terrain -- it'd be like exploring an entirely new world. Please vote on the poll on this thread. If we decide to go ahead with this, there would likely be a 1-2 week lead time to allow you to mark any chunks to be kept. This would be announced on skcraft.com, the launcher, and Facebook.
I really like the idea and its not the end of the world if we get rid of rp2 for the update, but my house has been very industrial and not very "pretty" haha and I would like to start over completely and build an epic place :3
http://tekkitlite.wikia.com/wiki/Category:MineFactory_Reloaded I'm not sure how to feel about the replacement of RP with MFR. Is it possible you add it as soon as lady elo is done with updates?
I don't understand what is wrong with staying on 1.4.7 for a while, even after stuff is stable. Weren't you guys on 1.2.5 until the most recent reset? I say that we just update all the mods to the final versions, and stay like that for a couple more months, then when everything seems good, wipe the map and have a fresh start. IMO, 1.5 is junk, and a few things have been changed for the worse: Current Import/Export Buses will need to be upgraded with an Advanced processor for each one more later
Will the player data be saved? (Pretty sure it will but just to double check ) and if we're have biomes o plenty, is ebxl gonna be removed?
I am all for just porting the world to 1.5.1/2 and not installing RP2. But I feel if we do, there would nee to be something gained, not just mods updated and 1 or 2 added. I honestly hate to bring this up again and again, but I think it would a good idea to have a look into enabling turtles. But it's just my opinion.
With a lot of new biome generation, and tons of new features in just about all the major mods, wouldn't a full reset be better?
We were on 1.2.5 because it was not even possible to update to 1.3. 1.3 was a lost Minecraft version. I also basically disappeared for like 3 months. No one cares about vanilla 1.5. There are a number of other mods that I want to consider adding, some of which break between 1.4 and 1.5.
Before I vote, I'd like to know what happens if you live in an ExtraBiomesXL biome? Currently I live in an autumn forest and hate to have to redo the setups I have. Other question is I heard that MFR has wiring like RP2, are the wires almost the same as Red Alloy, or is there some work I'd have to redo? Other than that, I'd like to continue my current operations, whether we are on 1.5 or stay 1.4 doesn't really matter too much to me, I'm kind of interested in seeing what new tortures are in store for us with Gregarious Box. I'm ready and will not try to close the box once it's open.
"Almost" the same, is a bit of an exaggeration. MFR does have wires, but unfortunately they are more similar to the Applied energistics cable, and MFR's rednet is only 1 block like the picture below. Spoiler Ignore what the cables are connecting to, i was just testing what they looked like when they connected to different things
