I absolutely love this game, and due to it's mechanical/scientific nature, I recommend everyone on Alice downloading the demo on steam.

This is simply a discussion thread, what have you accomplished? How far have you gone? How big is your space station? What mods/plugins do you use?

I'm currently en-route to Duna with a Kethane miner(plugin), my payload is currently 60 tons, I'm planning on a base, that feeds a refueling station in orbit, and doing the same for mimus. I've landed on the mun and Duna(no round trips yet), and currently have a small, but functional space station in orbit around Kerbin.

I have the game, I just can't put a ship together with enough fuel to get anywhere without it crashing back on Kerbin D:

I still cant get into orbit, like get to 1000m do a gravity turn, run out of fuel 1minute later, start a descent, crash and die... But I'm only using the demo so I get less parts :(

Wait till 10k meters to do a gravity turn, otherwise the drag is too great and you just waste fuel. If all else fails, look up KurtJMac's KSP video series. He fails a lot, and shows you what you should not do, but also succeeds at times as well.
